So, Amy's first book "I Like You" is definitely superior, but darn it, I just can't help but love pretty much anything Amy Sedaris does. She is so absolutely kooky and free-spirited that, in my mind, she can pretty much do no wrong. If you're new to Amy Sedaris, I'd recommend checking out "I Like You" first. (BTW, the recipes in that book are terrific, esp. the macaroni and cheese...) Then watch some "Strangers with Candy" (her sadly short-lived series on Comedy Central.) If, after that, you are convinced she is a comic genius, then check this out.

I love these books because it's a light read. If you go in expecting deep and profound, spoiler it aint here. Davidson never ceases to make me laugh til tears roll down my cheeks and she keeps the story moving along nicely. I've always thought what her characters say could so easily be said in blunt conversation between my friends and I. One of my favorite quotes of all time is in this book.

Siguiendo la estela de "El Médico", Gordon no se ha complicado mucho con esta novela. La época de la Inquisición Española no es más que un pretexto para seguir escribiendo sobre lo mismo. Aún así, a pesar de un principio pesadumbroso en el que se repetían los mismos esquemas una y otra vez, los personajes se hacen familiares y no puedes abandonar a Yonah Toledano fácilmente. El libro mejora muy notablemente un poco más allá de la mitad del libro, casi igualando a su novela hermana. Por eso al final acabas con un buen sabor de boca haciendo del libro uno de los recomendables.
