Quick easy read for the whole trilogy. I would have loved these when I was a teenager.

This is a classic! I read it in highschool, but didn't really appreciate it until i got into college and took an account writing class. I recommend that everyone read it once in their lives!

This was the first of the Parasol Protectorate books I read in paper; the others were all audio, where I loved the narration by Emily Gray. Reading it myself meant doing all Emily's voices in my head which proved a bit exhausting, but well worth it. The ongoing soap opera of Alexia Maccon and company in Carriger's Urban Fantasy/Steampunk 1870's London is always a delight.

Please tell me you have read this book. Charlotte Bronte so subtly captures the limitations humans place on themselves when handed a life of pain. Jane is the alter ego of every human--the one tortured by fear of the past, frozen by insecurity and self-deprecation, and silenced by the deaf reciprocity of unrequited love. Despite this alterego, she also represents the quiet confidence that women have--which is the key to the undoing of all mankind. :) I particularly love the Bronte sisters' style...all three of them. Charlotte's use of Gothic fiction, the Byronic hero, and the mad woman in the attic grabs at all the fantastical themes I love about life and literature.

It was the title that first caught my attention when I signed up for the first-reads giveaway and that title did not disappoint. I am so grateful I had an opportunity to read this book. I love historical novels, and this is the first novel I've read set in Vietnam. There are as many stories as their are characters in this book and I found myself wanting it to be longer - deeper - and not to end. Some of the outcomes were predictable but not trite, set against a theme of finding and regaining what had been lost. The descriptions of the pho and Hung's passion for creating it make it the very essence of life, even of art - no less than the poetry or drawing that he treasures. The rich connections and contrasts of cultures, generations and emotions make this a novel I hope to add to my book-club list for the fall!

Beautiful drawings and a charming story. I had this book when I was small, and looking at it take me back to happy times of my Mom reading me the story. I buy it for my friends with new babies. I love reading it to children, they love the repitition of the fabulous name. Tikki-tikki-tembo-no-sa-rembo-cheri-beri-ruchi-pip-peri-pembo, it just flows off the tongue, doesn't it? I understand from reading on the web that some people are now down on the book because it is racist. I think that some people don't have enough outlets for their indignation. It may not be authentically Chinese, and it may not be an authentic folktake, but it's authentically good.

This was a nice read. Cute story. I liked the letter format. I had never heard of Guernsey or knew anything about German occupation there during WWII. It was interesting to learn about. And I liked that the book wasn't all about the disturbing and terrible things that went on during the war, but certainly gave you a taste of what life was like then. Good read.

Written by Tina Sunday, 17 July 2011 Title: Nutter Nero Author: Lynn Hagen Publisher: Siren-BookStrand Publishing, Inc Genre: Paranormal Publication date: May 19, 2011 ISBN: 1-610343-90-5 Pages: 104 Series: Brac Pack Reviewer: Tina Heat Level: M/M oral & anal intercourse Rating: Nero Credence is an electronics expert; he suffers from germ phobia, a little ADD and a touch of OCD. He becomes the most neurotic mate the Brac pack has encountered to date. When he’s sent to Maverick’s, to fix some electronic equipment, he finds and meets his new mate. Gunnar Sadena is a very laid back wolf. He doesn’t really get angry, which turns out to be a good thing when he meets Nero. He isn’t sure what to do with the little guy who wears blue gloves all the time, but he knows he doesn’t want to let him go. Somehow they are going to have to work this out. Nutter Nero by Lynn Hagen, the 12th book in the Brac Pack series, introduces us to Nero, an extremely neurotic person. He has a good reason for his neurosis and does amazingly well considering all of his issues. He even tolerates being called Nutter by his mate. Gunnar is the happy go lucky one in the pack, which is a good thing when your mate is more skittish than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. He does all he can to make Nero feel at home with him. Unfortunately in the end, it’s Nero’s bravery and ability to overcome which is tested. I like the under lying theme of being comfortable in your own skin, no matter what might be wrong with you. Adapting and finding love isn’t easy for all of us, and some of us are a little like Nero and skittish too. In the end Nero proves to us all, he can overcome and teach us to do the same. This book is a part of a series which should be read in order. Once again we encounter characters from previous books in the series, which made me smile and helped Nero become one of the mates.
