A lot of fun and a fast read. The author reads the entire Old Testament and recaps it for the audience. He includes his own reflections on each story. He points out where the stories don't make sense (more to do with logic and other stories in the Bible vs. any scholarly objection), and interesting tidbits about their influence.

Grandma Mazur finds a bag full of money...lucky money! You know Grandma...with her bumbling, Stephanie chasing after her with Lula & "friend", Diesel, let the good times roll! Typical Evanovich...a short read, but a riot. It will have you laughing out loud. How can so many people get into so much trouble?

Sometimes...you just need to read something that you don't have to think about.

i failed on this one. i was 350 or 400 pages in and i just got bored. so much so that i wasn't reading because i would only let myself read this book. i decided it's better to give up on a book than to stop reading entirely. it is actually a pretty good book, if you need to learn the subject in great detail. however, my interest in a general overview of the civil war was not sufficient to get me through a detailed account of nearly every troop movement. however, i did like the first part of the book, which spend a log of time on the "why" part of the civil war. it talks about general political movements as well as the personal motivations of key players. i also discovered that a lot of civil war generals were jealous, glory-hogging little boys. this led to a discussion of the sanctity of private correspondence with my turkish coworker, who was amazed that the sources for books like this include many personal letters between spouses.

When thirteen-year-old Elizabeth Tilley and her parents board the Mayflower in 1620, they have high hopes for a better life in the New World. Although they are not Puritan Separatists like many of the passengers, the Tilleys have few economic opportunities in England. But after a long and difficult sea voyage, the Mayflower arrives in Cape Cod in the dead of winter. On deck one night, Elizabeth sees Dorothy Bradford, one of the other passengers, standing by the railing, but tells no one. The next morning, Dorothy has disappeared, presumed drowned. Elizabeth feels terrible guilt and is determined to hide her secret, fearing blame. Soon after, both of Elizabeth's parents die from disease. Elizabeth feels all alone, without family and with few friends, and burdened by the terrible secret she hides. This was a good historical novel about the voyage on the Mayflower and the settling of Plymouth colony. Elizabeth Tilley was a real passenger on the Mayflower, and the authors did a good job at imagining what her life might have been like in the first years of the colony. I would recommend this book to young readers who enjoy stories about Colonial America and the Pilgrims.

It's like Adrian Mole all over again. Hillarious and at the same time sad. Very quick read. Really enjoyed it!

Ok maybe not a Nobel prize winner in writing style, but for a story well told, a miraculous amazing story that is exciting and uplifting??? This is a book you must read. Lived and written by a friend of a childhood friend I am only sorry it took me so long to take the time to read this. Onward with my complaint free living!
