This was a good book. Quick read. Some unexpected twist and turns keep you reading on. I will read more of this authors work.

I enjoyed this book because the subject is very different from other books I've read. Descriptions of circus life in the 30's were well-done, and I enjoyed learning about life on the trains.

I thought it was pretty good, a good mix of fiction with historical characters.

** spoiler alert ** This book starts a couple months after where City of Glass left off. Jace & Clary are together. Although I am a little miffed that they both make an appearance in Chapter 2 and Jace is already brooding & tortured. But he wouldn't be Jace otherwise. This book is pretty focused on Simon. Preparations are being made for Luke & Jocelyn's wedding. Simon is approached by Camille wanting her to join forces with him because he is a daylighter, meanwhile Shadowhunter bodies are being dumped throughout the city. Jace is having nightmares of hurting Clary and tries to keep his distance. The werewolf Jordan is introduced and we find he is maia's ex-boyfriend that turned her. Clary & Jace seek help for his nightmares turning to the silent brothers. They find that since he was risen from the dead and didn't receive the special protection that shadowhunters receive at birth that someone is controlling him. It turns out that the first demon Lilith is controlling Jace, and she needs Simon's blood to revive Sebastian. Clary is able to break the spell on Jace by destroying the rune Lilith has marked him with, but happiness is short-lived. Because Simon has bitten Sebastian he is reanimated enought to force Jace to give him his blood. Binding them to eachother.

This second book of the series was much more enjoyable than the first. Though I still feel that Emma is a bit too juvenile, this story was funny and interesting. There were many more secondary characters introduced throughout the tale and they were all pleasant and fun to read about. I think I liked this one more because it actually felt like there was a plot going on. Emma and Eadric help Grassina search for the items needed to turn her beloved Haywood back into a human after 20+ years as an otter. Their search introduces them to a number of interesting creatures. I definitely feel better about the series after having read the second book and will continue it.

I've loved the Morganville vampire series since the first few chapters of the very first book. It's such a refreshing plot line and every time I grow to love the characters even more. What I also like about it is that the characters don't grow old. They are still able to make me life, cringe, cry, and get angry with. They are all so lovable. And there's also not just one character that the audience follows but there are so many great supporting characters. It's fun to see Claire getting closer to the different people and how relationships change. In this book, it was interesting to see the foursome outside of the confines of Morganville as they are on a road trip to Dallas for a recording session for Michael. The rednecks they meet on the way, the wise old ladies, and the vampire zombies make the trip a normal everyday Morganville encounter for the group who just wants a relaxing trip. It's also difficult for them to cope being out of a situation that doesn't all know vampires exist so they have to hide the blood and the weapons from the humans prying eyes. The book is quintessential M-ville book. Claire and Shane grow closer. Michael and Eve grow closer. Claire grows closer to Oliver. Oliver still hates everyone. But it's that security in the midst of all the chaos that make it such a good series. I was a little miffed at Claire's sudden ability to master the art of archery after only 20 minutes. (I took it in high school gym and could barely hit the target if it were five inches in front of me, after 2 months. And I consider myself to be on par with Claire's lack of coordination.) And another thing, you would think that if you had to encounter killer vampires on a daily basis, you'd be taking some serious kung fu lessons so you could easily handle yourself in a fight. I would have mastered the sword and all other hand to hand combat. But, I look forward to the next book and hopefully get to see more of Myrnin and Claire. (I love the old coot.) And maybe less of Claire's annoying and meddlesome parents. I would suggest this book to those looking for a great vampire YA series.

this book was pretty good but it was sad at the end but i cant say anything because you'll just have to read it your self to find out what happens. If your not that into sports you might not like this book but it was just a little baseball talk once and a while and other then that its more a bout a friendship.

I can understand the allure of this book, I can also understand the allure to Edward's way of life by Bella, especially at 17 years old. I liked the story, not knowing anything about "spoilers" I hope there is more action in the subsequent novels.

I read this book a million times. I have Scoliosis so I felt connected to Deenie in that way. It's a good one.
