difficult read - but essential from a political and social perspective. heard the author lecture at the library. he was so good that three couples created a book club using this book as the foundation for our political/history interests.

You wouldn't think a book by Jay Mohr would be all that compelling, especially one detailing his decidedly lackluster contribution to the realm of SNL. As it happened, I casually glanced at the book with disdain at Border's, and ended up sitting down in one of their big black comfy chairs and reading it the whole thing cover to cover. There's plenty of dirt on pretty much every cast member from that time, which is the main draw. Mohr clearly isn't interested in preserving any of his relationships with the cast, and something about his relaxed, "just tellin' it like it is, bro" manner laid to rest any suspicion that he was making things up. I really don't care about SNL anymore (although I hear it's improved), but books about the show tend to be pretty fascinating, and even one by the voice of "Paulie" and the co-star of "King's Ransom" proves no exception.

Neat photos of the OBX from the 50s-80s - all before I ever visited. I wish the info. was a little more detailed and the photos higher quality.

Wow. I read this book in one evening. I haven't done that in quite some time. I really, really enjoyed it. The first chapter was a bit of a drag, but after that I was hooked. It's about this boy, Alex, whose mother is dying of cancer, so he gets sent to live with his reporter/adventurer grandmother. She takes him along on a trip to the Amazon in search of a mythical Beast. Alex discovers that, far from just tagging along, he has a definite part to play in saving the People of the Mist, the last Indian tribe to remain untouched by civilisation. I loved it, it was awesome. I'll definitely be getting my hands on the sequels.

I loved this book! Right down to the names of all the sisters. Think I may have to buy it . . . something I don't do very often. The Twelve Dancing Princesses is a less known story, but one I've always remembered.

This is a fun enough read--the author's stated purpose is to investigate the historical accuracy of Shakespeare's history plays. The answer, Shakespeare was a dramatist, not a historian. However, his Elizabethan audience would have got the clear message of the importance of the strong, successful (Tudor) monarchy, in comparison to the largely dysfunctional one in the 14th-15th centuries. Some of the comparison of historical chronology to the play is dense and confusing, but otherwise, it is well-written and recommended for medieval or Shakespeare fans.

So far I have been able to apply two of the principles of this book to my everyday life. I feel better. I have learned to be grateful and show gratitude for everything.
