Anderson does a great job of making you feel the main characters pain, building it, not giving the reader all of the facts. Very poignant and accessibly written. The Platinum Edition includes an interview with the author and covers interesting topics as well.

I read this when I was stuck in Cusco for an extra because of rain and fog. I was suffering from altitude sickness and an unshakable chill so I was not happy to be going back to my hotel. Luckily, I found this on the shelf at my hostel so I spent the evening in my warm bed and read the ENTIRE book that evening. I'm a fast reader but it's a pretty thick book. I knew I had to finish it that night since I was leaving for Lima in the morning. As always, Mosley didn't let me done. It was an engaging story with a great character. I love the moral dilemmas Mosley's characters go through.

Totally loved this book! Excellent read...fascinating story. Of course, I still think that Roberto "softened" some things to make his brother look better historically, but that's not exactly something I wouldn't do, so I can't blame him. Would recommend.

When you can get used to the constantly changing point of views, the story is pretty good. The author aids this by providing different fonts and styles for each speaker and lists the speaker as the chapter title. But sometimes I found myself annoyed when I really didn't care to hear the POV of a certain character. Let me also say that the movie provides a different ending, and as usual, I prefer the book instead.

A friend gave this series to me for the boys to read. They tore right through the series and so now I'm reading it. It's fantastic! Patterson really did a great job! I'm totally into what's going on with this series! Max is your typical teenager with a large family. It's just her and her five besties - her flock. And by flock, I do mean birds, not the awesome web browser I love. You see, she and her friends are part avian as well as escapees from a demented science experiment. Who made them with wings? Why are they always being hunted? Will they ever have peace?

Despite the controversy over this book, I don't think the Chinese parenting method is insane, but I do think Amy Chua is. She seems to have anger issues that have nothing to do with her parenting style. I also think this memoir was a bit premature. I don't believe that a child, and therefore a parenting style, can be deemed successful when the child is only 15 or 18. The true test will be to see how these girls feel about their mother once they have moved out of her house.

Terlalu banyak yang harus saya acungi jempol dalam karya Dee ini. Dari mulai konfliknya yang sangat sederhana tapi mendalam untuk orang-orang yang pernah berada di titik itu, pemilihan kata yang smart sehingga satu kalimat bisa bermacam makna tergantung siapa yang membacanya. Saya suka dengan 9 karya cerpen Recto Verso, 2 yang berbahasa Inggris tidak saya baca, karena saya belum cukup mampu untuk mencerna karya sastra berbahasa inggris, secara kekuatan Dee adalah di bahasanya itu sendiri. Recto Verso membuktikan bahwa sebuah karya sastra tidak melulu harus mencantumkan nama tokoh, umur tokoh, latar belakang tokoh dan konflik yang kuat untuk dinikmati. Bahkan karena tokoh yang abstrak ini, bisa masuk sebagai tokoh si pembaca, event dia masih smp, kuliah, karyawan atau bahkan sudah tua sekalipun.
