Mike Lupica is my son's favorite author mainly bc he writes about sports. This book was far from his usual style. My son raved about it so I'm excited to read it.

It was an interesting story and an interesting narration pattern - as though each character were being interviewed. The pace was a little slow for my taste. That probably had more to do with the narration style than the actual content of the characters' stories. An interesting peek into a phase in one family's life.

Great non-fiction. My kids now call me "Super Tramp" (a title used to describe the central character in the book who explores the states as he travels to & makes his final home in Alaska). Interesting biography of a very intelligent but troubled young man.

This book takes a while to get through, but once you do it has a pretty interesting end.

An insightful, if abbreviated collection of Van Gogh's personal correspondence.

The Way I See It is a complication of articles Ms. Grandin has written for the Autism Asperger's Digest magazine over the past decade or so, grouped into loose categories. The nature of the format means that the book is somewhat repetitive and choppy with little, if any, transition between the short articles (often only 3-4 pages each). Ms. Grandin provides solid information on how people on the Spectrum think, how to help them broaden their skill sets and deal with sensory issues, with an emphasis on discipline and teaching proper appropriate behavior. I actually found several ideas I think may help with my son with ADHD. Many interesting insights including this one: "I have often thought that people on the mild end of the Asperger's spectrum may have fit in better years ago than they do today...In many ways, today's 'always connected' society has put more social demands on people, and a lack of social ability may be seen as more of a handicap than in the past." What a wondeful story this is! I really enjoyed this book, and I loved the main character, Kate. This book is not all happy go lucky, but it ends wonderfully and not as I expected it to when I was in the middle of the story. I thought at one point in the book (about mid-way through) I knew exactly how it was going to end, but I was wrong!! I actually loved the ending! I cannot wait to read more of Lori Coplands books!

I don't normally read this sort of thing but Deaver is quite entertaining. I have enjoyed several of his other books as well.

I hate myself for liking this stupid book! I hate myself even more for considering reading more of Nicholas Sparks' books!! It's just that it's not often you find a male writer who's an unabashed, treacly-sweet romantic--how could any girl resist?
