The movie was better than the book-a feat seldom accomplished. In my opinion, that says a lot about the book.

I really enjoyed this book. As I mentioned before, I think it really made me want to go and find out more details about what we really know about life during her time.

This was a fun read and I'm sure I would have ate it up as a young teenager. I like the idea of stories which show you the consequences of your actions, but sometimes I wasn't so keen on the character of Katie. Maybe it's because - despite also being a British girl in my late teens - I felt like Katie acted rather immaturely, like the situation with her boyfriend. Some parts were a little predictable and I figured out who'd told the press about Kassie and who was selling the stuff from the house. Overall, it was a quick, easy read and pretty fun, and it had a message, so I'd be happy for my (hypothetical) teenage daughter to read this! I probably wouldn't have read it if Hope hadn't recommended it to me, and I suppose I'll read the others in the series whenever Hope gets around to giving me them. 6/10

It's the story of what happens to the father in Little Women while he's away at the war. Graphic depictions of violence. I had the audiobook and really went through it quickly. Made me want to re-read Little Women.

It was so sad when the Courtney Crumrin series ended, but now Ted Naifeh has given us another young heroine to cheer for! Polly is being raised a proper young lady at a boarding school. When she is kidnapped by a band of pirates, she soon learns she is the daughter of a pirate queen. Pirate adventure and fun ensue. It is fun to see Naifeh branch out of the somewhat macabre world of Crumrin and Gloom Cookie and create this nautical adventure.

This is a tremendously creepy, disturbing book. The basic elements of a detective novel are here -- a strange and unexpected client, a detective reluctantly pulled out of retirement to take one last case, police who wonder whose side he's really on. But it soon goes horribly wrong, and he finds himself being dragged from scene to scene -- sometimes literally -- by self-mutilating cult members. Evenson's writing style is very spare, with only snippets of description to set the scene. It works very well in this novel; the overall effect is like a darkly lit horror movie, where your imagination fills in most of the details.

Two short(ish) stories that, I found, compliment Catcher in the Rye well.

Though it is a complicated masterpiece, this is also a great introduction to everything McCarthy. The style, story, ideals and elements are all clearly evident in this, possibly his greatest book. The character of the Judge is remarkably disturbing and strong. He is omnipresent throughout the entire story. The gruesome, bloody battles are all part of what ultimately adds up as a captivating, harrowing, and powerful novel.
The second book in the Witch and Wizard series.

I didn't really want to finish this book - I kept putting it down with no intention of picking it back up. The story was crazy, the characters weren't very likable, and the sketches were downright disturbing. All that said, I kept needing to pick it back up to find out what was going to happen next. I didn't relate to it at all, but it sucked me in.
