This book was a lot better than I was expecting. As I was reading it, I was thinking that I wasn't going to like it. I'm surprised with how engrossing the story was, it was moderately paced but I found myself eagerly anticipating the outcome. The basic plot is that the wife of a pilot learns that her husband's plane has exploded off the coast of Ireland and that there are no survivors. While dealing with all the initial shock of his death, she also has to contend with the reaction and grief of their 15 year old daughter, and the media frenzy the goes along with a crash of this nature. She learns that the media and the investigators are saying that it was suicide. In an effort to prove to everyone that Jack would never commit suicide as well as murder all those passengers, she learns that her husband had many secrets from her and is not the man she thought he was for all those years together. I could definitely sympathize with Kathryn's situation. She was married to her husband for 16 years and he was living a complete double life. She will never get the answers, never find out why, she simply had to find out and deal with it which is not the easiest thing to do. I was not necessarily thrilled with the ending but I do think that the author captured Kathryn's grief and the tension between her and her fifteen year old. I would definitely recommend the story, it was sad and emotional journey but it was thankfully it went by quickly and remained fairly interesting throughout.

Since I didn't watch the TV show, I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I was really looking for a book that my son (who plays high school football) might enjoy. What a pleasant surprise. This was an easy read full of inspirational messages, funny commentary and a look into other cultures. I really enjoyed the book. I liked that Dhani didn't get to football the typical route - playing from a small child and that's all you dream about and he came from an environment of education. Even his mom thought he could never make money at football and he needed to continue pursuing his career as a doctor. I also enjoyed experiencing the other cultures through Dhani's eyes - male, african american, celebrity, athlete, scholar. Excellent read for athletes and their parents.

She shares her before and after experiences as well as recipes in a friendly and informative tone. This book is not the first place to turn when trying to diagnose or understand celiac disease but is a great resource for inspiration and attitude-adjustment.

My freshman year college rhetoric course spent the entire semester exploring this one single book. It was a new chapter in my life in a new city with a new school and new classmates and I can't think of a better recipe for loving this book to pieces, which I do. Ages 18 and 19 are a great time to throw philosophy at kids. My friends and I worked at and debated philosophy endlessly. Pirsig puts it all into the language of modern Americans, his character spirals closer and closer to figuring IT out, and loses his grip more and more as he does. This book is the ultimate tragedy to the philosopher, I think, and therefore very rewarding to the person who lives for the day. This book helped grow me up. It gave me one of my truths.
