I enjoyed this one, with it's understandable focus on the stem cell issue, as well as an update on how Michael J. Fox is doing. It shames me that I keep working toward an optimistic nature, only to find myself kinda falling back toward negativity, while people who have it a lot rougher persevere and inspire. The author is a class act and I share in his hope that PD will be cured in the next few years.

Amazing how having more Lord Akeldama really brightens the whole book up. He's such a fun character. The relationship between him and Alexia is far more interesting than the one between her and her husband. I really liked the revelation in the book.

I loved reading "Going Postal", so naturally, "Making Money" was a must-read for me. And Pratchett succeeded in writing a second book on Moist von Lipwig that is as intelligent and funny as the first book. Seeing something like the use of money bills and banking business through the eyes of an Ankh Morporcian was tremendously entertaining and definitely a goodread!

Basically a chunk of the Jedi Academy trilogy told through Corran's eyes. Then he goes on a big adventure to save Mirax. Not a fantastic book (especially since a lot of it was lifted right from the other books) but not a bad one either. I've always liked Corran (Kieran) and it was fun to see from his perspective for a little while.

While Hyperbole and a Half does it better in terms of random, wacky humor, this collection of gags and odd facts from the humor website The Oatmeal is a perfectly agreeable way to spend a lunch hour. The comic titled "5 Reasons Pigs are More Awesome Than You" reminds readers that "pigs are ranked #4 in animal intelligence" (yup, higher than Princess and Fluffy) and will hopefully bring pause to all of those bacon-obsessed hipsters.

I really liked this book - I would give it a 4.5 if half stars were allowed. Taylor writes a convincing, poignant, and poetical (at times) spiritual memoir in the veins of Kathleen Norris. Her writing is quite good, but not as clear or as crafted as Norris's. At times a sad story, it ends on a redemptive note. My only complaint with this book is that, while I could sense her need to abandon her role as a clergyperson, she goes pretty much from "I love my church, I love my identity as a priest, I love what I'm doing" to the polar opposite without a lot in between. She kind of gives a sense of where all this angst comes from, but it arises so suddenly and almost inexplicably that it seems like maybe its NOT related to what she's doing but to something entirely different that she's not able to put her finger on. I recommend this book to anyone who has every doubted or struggled with their faith.
