For some reason, I have a thing for medical stuff, especially doctors. I liked the dichotomy of the suave, confident Julian when he was in his office wearing his lab coat, versus the shy man he was when not at work. Great complementary match for oil rig engineer Jackson. I LOVED their flirting, loved the way their relationship progressed, loved the secondary characters, and loved the small town Canada setting. What kept this from being higher rated for me, however, was that was started out as a fun, light-hearted read soon turned really serious and dark, with quite a few bad things happening, and I felt like it was overkill to have so much external conflict. To me, the second half of the book seemed a lot more like a melodramatic chick lit novel than a romance, but I have a high sensitivity to stuff like that.

i enjoyed this book...it does become lengthy at times but is full of details and candid observations. and alison weir has a vast knowledge of the sixteenth century and is very good at telling the story from Henry VIII death to Edwards succession onto mary and lastly to Elizabeth. i know most of the history and was unfazed by most of the detail brought forth but it is a good historical book if your interested in that time period and what happened after Henry VIII's reign.

This book was a very interesting book. It was extremely odd, with the author throwing many strange things at the reader eft and right. Overall, I found it very original and entertaining. If you like completely crazy fantasy, then you would probably enjoy this, otherwise, it's a lot to take.

I usually do not read romance novels but I wanted something "light" and that I could enjoy. This bool was it. I really enjoyed the story line, the characters, and even the romance. It was fast moving and I did not want to put it down!

I like this story although; the characters got on my nerves some times! I love the voice of the narrator even more than the story. Mr. Stevens acted like a mindless robot at times. He doesn't have his own mind and his whole life revolved around Lord Darlington and Darlington Hall. He is stiff and unfeeling. It was no deal to him that his father was ill and dying. No deal to him that he had to fire 2 maids. No biggie to him that the housekeeper had some feelings for him. Come on, man!! Is Stevens a man or a robot?! Evan a slave will have some feelings and their thoughts. Only at the end of the story does Mr. Stevens have and show emotions. Kind of sad though.
