Street corner TBR Challenge May pick #2 per Tina! I can definitely see a lot of people liking this one, teenage girls in particular. I think I would have gobbled this up and absolutely loved it back when I was in high-school. It was an okay read, I felt it a little long for it's genre. It's predictable, but has some really fun moments. Like I said, it's an OKAY read.... Polly is having quite the year with bad relationships... 4 or 5 guys in less than a year and now she is stuck working with her ex-Sawyer at the western-themed water park (yeah, I know it's kind of a wierd theme for a water park, but whatever. It explains the cover of the book) and you guessed it, he is her superior. She's dog-sitting one of her exes pooches. She's knocking her best-friend Janes new guy. She turns anything serious into a joke. But with a new love interest (even though she has sworn off guys), an out-of-the-picture dad, a mom juggling 2 jobs, and a best friend who is getting tired of her clown act... what is Polly going to do this Summer?!?!? Eh, if you're into girly-young-books, it's decent. Pretty good for a summer read. Light-weight. Completely YA age appropriate, no sex scenes. 2.5 stars Sidenote; I'm sorry, but the waterpark's dress code for the girls is absolutely ridiculous... a low cut bathing suit paired with cut-off denim shorts?!?!!? Ouch!! Have you ever had to stay in wet denim for long??? Trust me, it's not a pleasant experience!

Rounding this book up from 3.5 stars. Overall, very enjoyable story of some 30-year-olds that get together again to overcome the challenges from high school. Some of the characters are very "cliche", but throw in a mystery and a wondering who the dad is and a 75 year old gala, and it makes for a fun read. Overall, I really like the writing of this author and her descriptions, just sometimes I can't quite rate it higher than I want to, but overall, I like her a lot.

I'm still working on this, maybe, even though I've put it aside for now. The intro was smart and funny and hooked me. He's much more adorable in writing than when I've seen him talking. Reading on, the cute continues, along with a lot of well-researched information. It's easy to become intoxicated with his giddy obsessions. Unfortunately, there's something lost with time. These pieces were written in the late '80s and early '90s, and could stand a new edition to update what is really compelling data about food and dining. What does X cost now? Is Y still an issue? How has Z changed in the last 20 years? Finally, though some of the sidebars are illustrious and potentially useful (like some recipes that he's developed for a particular piece), many are unnecessary and distracting. It sounds like I don't like it much, but I really think it is a lot of fun!
