Yawn. Picked this up for free, I haven't read any others in the series. A frivolous chick-lit tone with nearly no plot. I might have enjoyed the earlier books, it sounds like the romance might have been fun. Starting with this one, it was like catching an unfamiliar soap opera. Who are these people and why should I care? The book was so short, it was like reading the MIDDLE of a much longer and more enjoyable novel.

Poor Davie Jones just can't catch a break. Made fun of throughout her childhood, she finally takes off as a teenager after being humiliated in front of the love of her life. I loved and connected with Davie's character immediately and despite some unbelievable parts of the story line, it was a fun and quick read. The book had some surprises and a happy ending.

Hmm. I can't quite decide how I feel about this. I've never read a novel by Dickens (unless you count the kid version of Oliver Twist which I read ten thousand times and still love). It was a bit slow for me at first, and I probably didn't really start moving quickly through it until Pip moved to London. I was very fond of Wemmick and The Aged Parent. One of my favorite descriptions from the book was about Jaggers: "he seemed to bully his sandwich as he ate" (or something like that). Can't you just see it?? Overall, a good book, and I intend to read more from Dickens.

This is still one of Agatha Christie's finest novel about Poirot. The mystery was revealed by Hasting after Poirot's death through Poirot's letter written upon his deathbed.

I read this book during jury duty. It was more enjoyable than I really expected it to be. It's a good car trip/airport sit/jury duty waiting book - amusing, but good to read quickly.

Re-read Oct 2013. I still think Ender's Game is like a gazillion times better. I suppose maybe because Bean is just too smart, even with the explanation of Anton's Key. You don't quite empathise with him (yet, anyway) It feels like a re-write of Ender's Game, just because. So if you've read Ender's Game, you might as well skip this one and head on to the rest of the Shadow Series, only you need to read this one to find out about Bean's mysterious history. --- Re-read 2015. Only because I can't find my copy of Ender's Game. Lol.

Even though the setting of this book took place in war torn Sri Lanka, this book was oddly beautiful, poetic, and scientific at the same time. The main character, Anil, is a forensic anthropologist looking to discover what happend during the country's civil war. If you enjoy reading books by John Fowles, Margaret Atwood, and A. S. Byatt, then you will enjoy this book.
