This is a beautiful book. It's Classic Amy Tan. A beautiful story with multiple layers and complex characters. (I sound like I know what I'm talking about) Seriously, it's a really good book. Loved it.

a fascinating testament to the Spanish Civil War from someone who was there. absolutely free of self-aggrandizement and probably has the most flippant account of being shot thru the neck in all of literature. makes it clear that sadly the Spanish Civil War was the last chance for fostering a new world of progressivism.

I have found that I like reading novels about vampires more than most books. Interview with the Vampire was a great book. It didn't get boring at any point. I enjoyed every second of the book.

I have some quibbles about the book. It's not really geared toward Sherlockians as much as to a broader audience who likes Holmes. But it's well-written and interesting, if somewhat implausible. I definitely enjoyed it. I might investigate the sequels. There are also these somewhat creepy pedophilic vibes that I'm not sure what to do with.
