Steve Berry should be more famous than Dan Brown. Berry tells a more engaging, suspenseful tale; has more genuine and relatable characters, and uses the English language to much better effect. I would venture to say that his concept (in this book) is also more controversial, and that may be why he isn't as widely read. The Alexandria Link would make an excellent movie, as well. One I'd be much more excited to see than The DaVinci Code.

This book was awesome, even if it was cruelly condoning of teachers. Basically, it says that teachers bully students and each other. It's amazing how accurate the phenomenon described here play out in my school/classroom. For fun, one can compare his description of machoism, or laddism (basically male chauvinism) to the movie 300. It fits so well. Thank goodness for books like this which can really support, encourage, and lend understanding to teachers facing very difficult situations.

I liked the premise of the story but I can't say the book grabbed me. This story is imagining a future, a time when it's easy for people to purchase enhancements that let them live longer, healthier lives, or to purchase cybernetic limbs. The two different approaches to improving humanity had led to corporate warfare, and that's what the story focuses on, the leaders of the various companies responsible for the new technology. It's set up as a documentary, told years after the events in question took place. So there is a very deliberate, procedural nature to the structure which results in dry storytelling. There are a few well-done reveals, but on the whole this isn't an exciting read.
