I’m not a compulsive book-finisher. If something is terrible, I’ll stop reading and move on, but there’s also a frustrating place between good enough to enjoy and bad enough to put down without guilt or curiosity. (rest of my review)

A lot denser than the flimsy volume suggests. Great puns and wit -- if you're familiar with the British culture and slangs of the time period. (Children's lit; 100 pages)

Vonnegut is one of my all time favourite authors, and a good case could be made for him being my number one. Every time I pick up one of his books I worry about him finally disappointing me. Well, after finishing this I am glad to say he still hasn't. Focussing mainly on ideas of free will and the purpose of humans and societies, Vonnegut hits every target he aims for in the most innovative and amusing ways. After finishing one of his books you are always thinking harder, and you are always wanting more. Just excellent.

This book was much better than I anticipated! I skimmed over a good portion of the patient details (a little too graphic), but I fell in love with the way Jauhar was able to think and write like a doctor AND a journalist. Revealed many doctor "secrets" I never even considered. And, I was surprised to see this story in the Globe the week I finished reading! http://www.boston.com/news/health/art... Looks like Jauhar was ahead of his game!

Made me want to be an economist. Fascinating, except for the parts where Levitt and Dubner go into armchair anthropologist mode. Some of their numbers suggested interesting stories, but Levitt and Dubner made up the explanations behind the numbers without the fieldwork to back it up. Particularly notorious was their discussions of educational choices and names at the end of the book.

I'm interested to see what happens next. Will Jessica be disappointed with her college decision? Will her and Marcus survive? IDK!

This book takes place 4 years after the first in the series, which I thought was a little weird. It felt like too much of a zoom forward, yet with some things being exactly the same. Aside from the initial oddness of the timing, the story definitely picks right up again and as a reader I was thrown right back into the action. I really enjoyed the dynamics between Cat and her team and I think it adds a lot to her character and to the story. I'm still not really sure what to think of Bones. It is obvious that he adores Cat, but I haven't totally warmed up to him as a character yet. I kind of like Tate better! The ending was quite interesting and it set up a great premise for the rest of this series. All together, an enjoyable, action-packed read!

This is the second book in the "Three Sisters Island" Trilogy. The story is about Ripley and her relationship with a rich computer geek who happens to be a handsome hunk. I liked the story but I really got tired of Ripley being a rampant B****. She was always pissed about something and it got REALLY old after awhile. How Mac ever falls in love with her is still a mystery......I'm hoping that the third book will be like the first book which was fun to read....I guess I'll find out soon enough...I'm starting the third book right away....

This book was really good. I had to read it for a Beta Convention last year. I really didn't want to read it because it was just...I don't know. But I didn't want to read it. In the end, though, I ended up loving it! Might be a little lower level for some of you guys, but it's still good. I enjoyed it.

Is more of a how-to guide for corporate strategy than a book about visionary outlook. Using Microsoft Corp. as a showcase for strategic thinking isn't quite convincing either.
