I'm sorry to say that Fallout is my least favorite book out of all of Hopkins' novels. Like everyone else, I love her notorious lyrical prose and dimensional characters, not to mention the complexity of their relationships with each other. And yet: perhaps it's because I read Burned a long time ago, but this book just didn't hold me attention as the others did. As much as I hate to say it, it may be because there wasn't much drug use, violence, or general promiscuity going on during the book. It was more about resisting those things, and as "positive" as that is, I think I like the gritty stuff better.

I finished listening to this book and I found it pretty interesting, I liked the whole plot and the development of the characters. The only parts which I do not agree with are the promiscuous and depraved ones, it's an abuse of language, I wouldn't recommend. I believe that this book is a great one despite all my inhibitions and that comes from the moral part. The message that this book about life and struggle is deep and profound. I did not cry like others but it left a bitter taste on me because of the remembrance of our daily struggle through life. I wish we had other options but until then we are stuck in out own labyrinth.

This book was very informative. I learned a lot about a man I revere as a prophet of God. He was the one who taught the Church to read the Book of Mormon daily and to stay away from pride. President Benson was a man about my Grandpa Merrill's age who grew up in the same area, northern Cache Valley. I enjoy reading books about righteous men and their lives. I have a lot of love for my grandpa also.

Fascinating history of Catherine's own sexploits as she searches for the "sexual holy grail." Despite the graphic nature of the book, it's clearly not meant to arouse the reader but rather to examine the notion of eroticism. The reader must divorce himself from the preconception that this book is meant to be overflowing with passion; that is plainly not the point. Catherine examines and then shatters traditional assumptions about gender, sex and sexuality. By turns graceful, aloof and above all unapologetic, it's no surprise this book caused such a sensation in Europe, though I am skeptical that many Americans will appreciate its true value.

This was a fairly enjoyable and interesting book. Lewis went into a lot of detail describing the scenery and creatures on the planet Malacandra which takes up a lot of pages. The characters are interesting but not very developed. In the way of conversation, much of it is monologuing by the main character, Ransom. For it's shortish length, there are a plenty of curse words (16 in total), mainly in the beginning, a few hints at sexual immorality (though nothing but brief comments, nor graphic), and Evolution is portrayed as fact in a number of passages. I enjoyed the angelic eldila and loyal hrossa.

I love Alex Delaware books, but I found this one to be just a bit convoluted. There were a few too many sub-plots going on, and it made it hard to follow the story at times. It was still an enjoyable read!
