Was really surprised - I went off the Weather Warden books, just got bored with them but this was brilliant. I just couldn't put it down. I loved all the new characters and freshened up a world I was already familiar with.

This was a sipping book, not a gulping book. It took us weeks to get through it and Ginger and I would alternate between being ready to give up and urging the other on. In the end, though, it was good stuff. It was kind of innocent in the way that older Newbery's are but far from simple, as the stories weave through two time periods and myriad characters. Ginger loved it even more than I did.

I requested this book from the library as I am enjoying the Firefly TV series on DVD and was intrigued to see what this book was about. For starters, I'm not a fan of graphic novels. I really didn't know what I was getting into. I did like that the artists matched the drawings of the characters to the actors in the TV series. Beyond that, the story line was weak and uninteresting.

Some people say this book is too cheesy... Maybe so, but I really liked it. It was completely absorbing and fun to read. Although at times the story seems unrealistic, the author is very open and offers raw, intimate details about her personal journey that are quite moving.
