Saya mencari buku ini dengan penuh perjuangan. Sampai lutut saya bonyok karena terjatuh, buku ini habis di mana-mana. Akhirnya, saya justru menemukannya di toko buku (waktu pertama saya cari tidak ada) yang sebenarnya terdekat dari rumah. Sebenarnya buku ini adalah kumpulan quote salah satu pengarang favorit saya, Paulo Coelho. Kutipan-kutipan yang diambil sebagian besar adalah kalimat-kalimat yang juga saya garis bawahi dalam buku-bukunya. Sekarang, lebih mudah, kan, membawa kalimat-kalimat penyemangat dalam satu buku ;)

Despite containing some witty ideas, this book never manages to feel very substantial. It's not as horrible as all the 1-star reviews might have you believe, but it definitely didn't leave any sort of impact on me. I've come to expect better from Lethem.

This is the book McCarthy wrote before The Road. No Country for Old Men is a classic battle between good and evil. A lucky young man happens upon the scene of a drug battleground and he becomes very unlucky very quickly. The principled killer tracks him down and nearly gets him a few times. The story is incredibly vivid and moving, but about two thirds of the way through, I got the feeling that McCarthy gave up, killing off characters (spoiler alert!) and leaving old-timers to think about it all. I reckon he wanted to get on to something else, an even bigger battle between good and nothingness; this is what The Road fully accomplished. This book, though, is less of a prequel and more of a glimpse of a great idea not quite fully realized. That said, I have every expectation that the Coen brothers' adaptation will fix some of these faults and make for a beautiful, horrifying movie.
