Meh. The heroin is quite likable and snarky, which I like, but the book didn't grab me like I thought it would. Also, Bones (what kind of name is that?) really, really needs to stop calling Cat "luv" every effing sentence. Yet I can't stop reading. Go figure? Proper review to come.

I haven't read a lot of modern poetry but this was excellent. "The Wasteland" itself is intense and moving, and you can read it through and just start again at the beginning, over and over, and find new things to like about it. The collection also has some other great poems in it (Love Song of J. Alfred. Prufrock, notably) but it's missing "The Hollow Men" which is a bit disappointing.

This book made my eyes feel dry. I read it in one sitting and when I stopped, I drank a glass of water.

I enjoyed this second installment, though maybe not quite as much as the first. I'm still a big fan of Evie and the writing. I think it's the nature of the second book in a trilogy that the conflict can't be quite as epic as the opening and closing installments, so I was okay with the fact that I felt I saw what was going on well before I wished I had.

Fantastic. So many puzzle pieces that fit together on so many levels, so many lessons of friendship, forgiveness, doing the right thing, truth, and family....not to mention a glimpse into Afghanistan's culture and history from the perspective of a native man. Loved it. Would read again.

Tish is living a very rough life but she tries her best to live through it with her little brother. It's not her fault that dad left. Mom left the both of them on their own. Mom didn't leave much money for the both of them. Tish doesn't get many hours at work and doesn't get payed very much. She's always worrying about the bills that mom is supposed to be paying. Her power gets shut off. Always eating peanut butter and bread because she doesn't have the money to buy anything. She hates her mom. Is her mom ever gonna come back? I liked this book. It had a great ending to it. I don't think i could survive on my own. I don't even have a job. My mom takes care of me. If my mom were to leave me on my own and expect me to pay all the bills, there is no way I could do it. This book helps me appreciate the things i have in life because some people don't have people to support them. I would recommend this book to anyone. It's a great book.

Beautiful love story. Reminded me slightly of The Notebook.

Truth be told, I'd probably give this a 3.5 but went with 3 as it wasn't a strong 3.5. There were many nice things about this book, but overall it is just another Wartime Remembrance that doesn't seem to offer any new insights. The writing is strong though and definitely worth reading for those interested in the tragedies of that time
