One of my very favorite things about it is that at the start of each day, you get to name that day. Just a wonderful pick-me-up!! :)

I liked this book. I didn't love it, but then I've never been a fan of landscape descriptions. Also, the narrator was annoying in her childishness. Generally a good story, if a bit predictable.

This was an interesting historical fiction. I reread about many of the main characters on Wikipedia as I was reading the book, so that I would both remember and understand the factual reality of the time period around 1530-1535. Many things were astounding to me: 1. Henry VIII desire for Anne Boleyn and ostensibly for a male heir was so strong that it put into play the beginnings of the English Reformation. 2. The precarious lives the rich and famous lived, wealthy and healthy one day, and hanged or disemboweled the next day. Many of the main players in this book met with ignominious deaths. 3. The role religion played as being the main justification for whatever one's purpose was ( a prime example was two different scriptures that backed up the two opposing parties during Henry VIII's bid for divorce) 4. The inability people had to be free to think or speak independently--their lives depended on towing the party line. How times have changed since this epic time period. I enjoyed learning about Thomas Cromwell as well.

I listened to this on CD--from Buckhead Public Library, where I get most of my CD books. It was a good way to read it. The novel tells rich, heartbreaking stories of two women married to the same man. There's some violence in it that's hard to take, but I recommend it.

I honestly didn't expect much from this book, which is probably why I was so pleasantly surprised. It was short and stereotypical but it was still sweet and quite engaging. The sex wasn't overdone and the characters were likeable. If you don't mind short, shallow stories give this a go.
