My "review": 3 stars here means: It's fine, whatever. I still don't get it. A bunch of semi-related rambaling: I went to hear Mike Mignola speak a few weeks ago in the hopes that he was going to clear up my question about cliche' vs. archetype. Instead it confirmed a lot of cliche's about comic book readers and left me more frustrated than before. Also, did you all already know that when a comic artist (or at least this one) shows up for a signing, that that's all he does? He just signs stuff. No talk, no personal anecdotes, no "here's my process", etc. I didn't know that. And, did you know that a TON of Mike Mignola fans still have pony tails? men. In their 30's and up. Furthermore, I've pretty much given up on science fiction/fantasy but there is still something about this type of comic that I want to understand. Finally, I about didn't read this comic, when I saw that it's dedicated to, among others, H.P. Lovecraft. UGH!!!! H.P. Lovecraft makes me think of undergraduate students at Lewis and Clark college that wear Orange utility jumpsuits, with ukulele's strapped to their backs and fedora's on their head* and I don't want to think about that. *okay, that was just one guy, but still, it was really annoying.
