While it's possible that this book may be over-rated... it's not by much. Everyone should read this, bits of it are tough to get through, but for the most part, it is amazing.

I really liked this book. It's about girls who kick but while breaking all the stereotypes but not for the sake of breaking them (if that makes sense). The book is about a plane full of teen beauty queens who crash on a (very Lost-like) island on their way to a national competition. At first Miss Texas, who declares herself leader, keeps the girls practicing their opening statements, dance routines, etc. Eventually though, the girls find out (I won't say how) that the whole world assumes them dead, and they decide to survive. And they do so with flair! Add to the plot some tv pirates, an evil corperation, some secret arms dealing, and a murderous plan. Only Libba Bray (or the writers of Lost) could make this story work, but work it does. The best thing, though, is the fact that the girls learn to be who they are be it girly, tomboyish, smart, a bit airheaded, gay, straight, whatever. And they all kick ass. There's one early scene where one of the girls suggests that they organize Girl Con and everyone is suggesting topics that aren't typical girl. One says she wants to do makeovers, and the resident feminist makes fun of her. The others stick up for her saying there should be whatever any of them like, including makeovers. I thought this was great because it's not your grandma's feminism where you burn your bra and refuse to shave your legs on principle. You can go hairy and kick butt if you want, but you can also do it with your eye liner firmly in place. It's a girl's prerogative =)

Yeah, yeah, historical romance. Hysterical romance? Opposites attract (because don't they always in these books? Either that or they've known each other forever, but only just realize they're in l-o-v-e). A little intense for the plot, more plot than romance, but then when there is the romance... I had no idea they were into role-playing during medieval times. Well... I can't really decide if I'd ever want to read anything by her again. Unfortunately it's sort of put me off reading for a little while; I was very frustrated at the Library tonight. You'll see what I ended up choosing... (less fiction) Actually, looking at the opening sentence, it should've been more promising: On Plow Monday, all the chickens died. Elayne knew she shouldn't have tried to substitute a chicken feather for the quill from a magical hoopoe bird. But Savernake Forest did not harbor hoopoe birds. In truth Elayne had no notion what a hoopoe bird looked like--the only place she had ever seen the name of the creature was in the handbook of charms and experiments that contained her formula. Unfortunately it only gets more serious from there. Family politics! Deceit! Oooh!

Lost on a few different planets where people keep trying to kill them the teens attempt to return to their version of Earth. This is sadly not the end of the series, the story should continue but I can't find any mention of another book to be published and this one was published in 2006 so I'm not holding much hope.

A cute book with a strange sub-plot about mobsters and how we live in a world that glorifies what they do. & while the part about the mob was a. Bit over the top, there were several interestng parts, including the opening bar scene and the water tower incident. This book gave me great insight Into Jack & Kylie, two of the characters that Spencer refers to in the following book, "Into the Wild. "

I found this book difficult to get into and almost gave up on it, but about half-way through it became interesting and I actually enjoyed it through the end. Still, overall, I don't recommend it. p.99 "Forgetting means remembering at an inconvenient time." p. 291 "Remember darling," Ivy often warned Cal, "people won't remember what you did, but how you made them feel."

Totally cute and funny just like the movie. I liked how the movie was with fighting the vegan ex boyfriend but they should have added Ramona and Envy fighting. That was cool.

I liked this book, I liked the characters, especialy Paul and his mother, Jessica. I liked his instructers to and the fremen freinds. This idea of a complete new society, ruled by galaxies and other planets is great and very well writtend, detailed and described. I was not expecting anything from these book (only the great ratings and good comments from my friends) and that was the main factor for me to enjoy it, because the Science Fiction is not my favorite type and I wasn't used to read it. So, I can tell this was my first Sci-F book and I liked it. In all the plot, the question about the water was one of the most great points in it, because it shows us the way of living in Arrakis and the importance of one thing that we always know here: the water.
