Probably my favorite book of all time. I have read it more than 10 times and get more out of it every time. The way that Harper Lee tells us a very adult story through the eyes of children is masterful. The two storylines in the book are woven together into a beautiful and poignant end that gives me chills just thinking about it! THIS is what writing should always be!

John irving is amazing writer. I didn't want this book to end. Some of it takes place in Amsterdam in the red light district , so it was cool to read about someplace that I have passed to several times. Another very interesting love story ...I got very attached to the characters and at the end was almost sad that I had finished the book.

This book shows a lot of promise-a lot of the ideas and premises are interesting: The fragmentation of America with the hicks in the interior forming the Confederate states or "Jesusland" and the highly technical people on the coasts drifting towards either China (good luck with that) or Europe, respectively. The ideas of social biology or genetic determinism are interesting too, with the "bonobos" and the "thirteens," but the story and characters lose momentum at about page 200, and for me, they never got that momentum back. The story becomes more about who has the biggest ****, and how females are desperate to spread their legs for psychopaths. The plot becomes byzantine, with alteplanos in Peru somehow tying into genetic thirteens on Mars. I may still be willing to try "Altered Carbon" after this, but I can't say I'm impressed with how well Morgan does or doesn't spin a yarn.

really well written-- one of the most endearing voices i've read-- and while it moves between so many different places/times/perspectives/books, krauss connects the storylines very well, which leads to a satisfying (but sad) ending.

Though I am not a fan of the creative spelling, this play/poem holds a special place in my heart.

This book not only deserves to be compared to the likes of To Kill a Mockingbird and Their Eyes Were Watching God, it deserves to stand among them. Stockett's portrayal of three women working toward a common goal in 1960's Mississippi is both tasteful and honest. It goes beyond the us vs. them stereotype and gives a deeper look race relations during this time. Don't even think about not reading this book!

This was the first Rough Guide I used, and I haven't looked back. I love the way they're set up, and the information is pretty consistently great for before (to plan and prepare), during (to orient), and after a trip (to remember).

The trilogy curse strikes again! I noticed the small print on the inside front cover that stated this was book 1 of a trilogy, but my mind wasn't ready to believe it until I finished all 579 pages and it wasn't finished yet! Overall I liked this book and will probably read the other two. I did feel there were some parts that were unnecessary or stretched though, so hopefully the next two books won't have so much of that.
