This was a great mystery to do with 7th graders. They were hooked and were trying to guess who the murder was the entire time! This is a great mystery to do with students not familiar with the genre. Now they want to read more of her mysteries.

Home to Holly Springs brought me back to the delightful world of Father Tim. I'll admit: Some of the other reviewers were right in their criticism that she sewed up a perfect little ending despite all the dangling loose ends. It probably was a little too perfect, too happily ever after, but I loved it nonetheless.

I originally read this book in July of 2009. I believe this marks my 3rd time reading it through, and my first time reading it to the kids. I forgot how much better Rowling's writing got as she progressed through the books. PoA, like the rest of the books in the Harry Potter series, is a fantastic read full of mystery and suspense. She does a great job misleading the reading with this one, and she ties up the ending very nicely. I forgot how spiritual and touching it was when it all came together. I started tearing up when I was reading it out loud. For those, who like me at one time, won't read these books because they are "juvenile" and/or "fantasy," don't let that concept get in the way. These books are so much more than that. It's about relationships, good and evil, mystery, spirituality, and so much more. I highly recommend reading this book, especially if thinking about watching the movie. The book is so much better!

If you read this book and find yourself identifying strongly with either Mildred or Veda Pierce, put the book down, go to your computer, and find the closest mental-health care professional in your network. You are going to need to spend *a lot* of time on the couch. This is the actual book and it is much better than the screenplay. I guess if you've seen the movie or the HBO show, you might not have seen what Cain actually wrote.

I read this in preparation for our 10th anniversary trip to Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Not many books capture a location so beautifully-- PEI seems completely dreamy and magical! (I'll gauge whether it lives up to its reputation in real life!) It was fun to relive Anne Shirley's crazy exploits, and to watch her relationship with Gilbert Blythe slowly change from good enemies to good friends.

This book changed my entire concept of what it means to relate with God, what He wants from us. Willard manages to cover both the theoretical/abstract framework as well as the gritty practical aspects of prayer. I've now read the book three times.

If you love Harry Potter or Twilight, you will love this book. When I came close to finishing The Hunger Games, I had to take a couple hours off because I was so anxious about how the story could be wrapped up in so few pages. When the book ended, I went searching online and found out that this newly released book is actually part of trilogy, but the next book won't come out until September! Oh, I hate waiting for a series to be written and released. But it is wonderful find a story that is clever and well-written enough to make me want to pre-order the next book.
