It was neat to see glimpses of the characters from the BDB series and yet be in a different world where vampires don't exist but angels and demons do. Not as good as BDB, though.

The book gives lots of great information about this classical period in Hollywood but does it in a confusing way. Many of the paragraphs are long and encompass many ideas, therefore it switches thought and many times without further explanation. I recommend it for the information you can wheedle out of it.

While I'm sure plenty of people experience psychosomatic pain, Sarno's book is largely opinion-based and extraordinarily self-congratulatory. I'll admit I was extremely skeptical when I checked this out of the library, but I was willing to give it a shot, and it failed to convince me of anything. If you like boring, poorly written pseudoscience, pick this one up. But I found myself first skipping a page, then two, then a chapter, and soon giving up.

What an fascinating and thorough "tour" thru the cut flower industry...from Ecuador to Amsterdam to California, and more. Who knew that nearly all cut flowers go thru the flower auction in the Netherlands before landing at my local HyVee? All the tricks growers use...all the fungicide they did my roses in before shipping....mmmmH! The moral of the story - grow your own!

** spoiler alert ** Just couldn't get through it. After the first book, I just don't care about most of the characters anymore. The only people I care about are Tyrion and Dany, but even Dany has lost me. There are far too many characters, details about their lives and the war that I don't want to waste my time remembering, and it's far too slow to keep my attention. The Starks have become far more annoying than they were in the first book, though I can at least be thankful that Ned Stark is gone. I will continue watching the show, just because I am curious where these people end up, but I can't continue the books right now.
