Captivating novel. Were it not for my other responsibilities... hungry children.... sleep... I would have finished this much, much sooner. I couldn't wait to delve back into the land of Pannem. Katniss and Peeta's characters are richly developed and one can't help but openly cheer for both to survive. This book centers on the future of North America, similar I find to the "Uglies" series and to "The Giver". I cannot wait for the sequel! Due to the nature of the Games, there is understandably some violence as the contestants are killed. Also, some mild romance.

A friend loaned me this book, which I will categorize as a better than average awesomely bad romance novel. Nora Roberts is an uneven writer, sometimes giving her characters dialog so contrived you want to tell everyone to just shut up already, but then there's Bo Goodnight, the book's knight in shining armor, who is, of course, not only attractive, but gets all the best lines, many of which are pretty witty. Bo ends up being the most fully realized character in the book, which is weird given that we know more about Reena, from whose POV the book is told. Roberts' characters live in Romance Novel World, too, where everyone is superlatively beautiful and wildly successful at whatever they put their minds to. The adversity in the novel almost seems trite -- yeah, Reena's got an arsonist stalking her, but she doesn't realize it until pretty late in the book, and even then, everything else in her life is awesome. So, a good escapist novel, still generally enjoyable if you ignore its flaws, it's mildly suspenseful and worth it for Bo Goodnight and some of the antics of Reena's large Italian family.

Hmmm, apa yang bisa saya katakan, yah, terhadap buku ini? Sempat menghilang waktu awal dibaca karena terselip di kantong kertas, tapi akhirnya beberapa hari yang lalu ditemukan dan dikejar bacanya. Hanya saja, ceritanya tidak semenarik yang saya bayangkan. (Jadi sedikit kecewa) Dibandingkan dengan novel terakhir Clara Ng yang saya baca, Gerhana Kembar, novel ini kurang menarik. Cara penceritaannya juga cenderung biasa saja, tidak menghanyutkan. Mungkin keberhasilannya mengangkat tema sensitif di Gerhana Bulan (Lesbianisme), membuatnya mencoba mengangkat tema KDRT ini, sayangnya, terasa tanggung.

If you've read illium you'll need to read this book due to the cliffhanger. However I was extremely dissapointed with this conclusion. Some questions are never answered. There is no real climax. A specific conflict promised at the end of ilium, and foreshadowed in a number of places within this book never occurs. Ilium was amazing. Olympos was a huge dissapointment. Still fairly strong in the genre but doesn't come close to living up to the promise of Ilium.

Something different from the glut of vampire books. Marissa is a Fury and as such is part of the supernatural law enforcement element. This is a continuation of Red Hot Fury, but I did not recall all the details of that book. This is ultimately all about families and how they stick together while driving each other crazy. I'll read the next one in the series.

Two steps forward, One step back. Allie and her friends are in a race to find a cure for the poisoned magic that is killing people and with magic making Allie sick, she has to depend on her friends and more conventional means to keep herself safe from those who are hunting them. I am still completely lost when it comes to Allie's father. One minute I felt like he is truly interested in helping Allie, and the next I'm convinced he has a massive ulterior motive. I'm also still really upset about Allie not having her personal interior magic still. I don't know why but it really bugs me. I love Allie and Zayvion even more as the books pile on. Shame and Terric continue to be my favorite two allies involved in Allies life and I love reading about their love hate relationship. There is always a ton of action involved and story development added with each Allie book. Just when you think Allie will be able to catch a break the ending throws a massive curve ball in her plans and moves her back into battle mode. By the last page you know where the story is going next and I cant wait to read how it plays out.
