I really like this story. The idea behind it is great. The negatives are that the series is 9 books long and each book is between 700-1000+ pages. This book was a little racy for me to recommend it, the couple is married but I felt like their private life was a little to discribed for me. I am going to try the second book.

In my opinion, Larry McMurtry is the greatest living American writer. His portraits of the old west aren't limited to the exploits of "white" cowboys. He employs a vast array of characters, white, native, black, who contributed to the "taming" of the West. The people in his books are real and believable. I'm singling out "Lonesome Dove," but that's only because it's his most famous. I'd start with "Hud", then move on to "The Last Picture Show", "Terms of Endearment", and "Texasville".

Budapest is one of my favorite poems from this collection. It makes me think of my days teaching my favorite subject - writing - and those students who, given time and leeway, discovered their voices.
