While this series isn't what I would consider "young adult," it does have a fairly decent story line to it. It certainly isn't good writing, it has far to much name brand call outs and references to pop culture, and reminds the reader of things the happened previously to often (to the point that it could be insulting to their intelligence). If you can get passed all that, the over dramatization of her "boyfriend situation", and the beyond nesscessary sexual content, it's not too bad!

Maya and I read this one together and really enjoyed it. Reviews have compared it to Ronald Dahl (but not as crazy, says Maya) and Hugo Cabret. Despite some confusing moments, the characters, prose, and pictures are delightful. Maya adored the sisters, Hope and Honey, and cheered for their reunion. She also loved the concept of the Dream Vault and wishes it existed in real-life. This one was worthy of after- bedtime "sneak-reading" by Maya who finished it without me.

This makes me want to run the NYC marathon. I liked how each chapter was a mile of the marathon. Since I started this book and then put it down for a few weeks before picking it up again, I felt a little lost by all of the people and their backstories, but overall, it was inspirational. I picked this up pretty much at random from the library - I'm not a big fan of autobiography and, since I don't watch a lot of TV, I actually know @DerrenBrown more from twitter (waiting to see how quickly that dates this...) Far from the usual "One glorious day, the world was immeasurably improved by my birth, little suspecting at the time that I would achieve world domination [or not] for 5 minutes [if that]", followed by lots of baby photos of a teenage X-Factor runner up who can't really tell you much more than that they went to school and now sing a bit*, Brown completely eschews a chronological approach to autobiography. He entwines personal anecdotes, psychological insights and instructions for preparing a perfect poached egg within a dissection of the anatomy of a card trick in the retelling of a particular performance and combined with discussion of magic in general. Fascinating, wide-ranging and amusing (commuters who suffer from embarrassing giggle-outbursts on buses and trains, beware!) - I really enjoyed this. --- * Admittedly, I perhaps falsely malign a genre don't read much of based mainly on shiny 'celebrity' biographies on display in supermarkets.

WOW!! Just WOW! I loved the first book A LOT! BUT this one??? I recommend this book to everyone! Not only is it interesting but there is a MAJOR cliff-hanger at the end! I am so curious to read the third book! I really can't wait for it to come out! (And I am still hoping it will be green! (first book was red/pink = ruby, second was purple/blue = sapphire, now we need emerald!!!)) Get ready to meet one of the oldest revenants from france! Now the question is, which one of them is the traitor? I think you know as well as I do that the only way to find out is to read the book ;D Hurry and get it!! I am 100% sure that you will LOVE it :D
