The psychology was very interesting. The novel was both more and less than I expected. More in its description of inner life, less in its description of the land and country. All is society chatter and inner monologue. Inner monologue is sometimes LOL funny. Anna's ultimate state is brilliantly described, thus believable.

Ed Kennedy is a 19-year-old Australian taxi driver. When he inadvertently helps arrest a bank robber, mysterious playing cards start showing up at his house. He and his best friends (including the girl for whom he secretly pines) don't know much about it, but they know he's acting strangely. Each of the playing cards has a list, and it's Ed's job to figure out what to do with the people or places on the list. Lots of fun twists and turns, although definitely some profanity and sex-talk (rather funny though). If Ed is the Messenger, then what is the Message? The ending may very well blow your mind.

compelling story (reminds me of LA Times story by K. Weiss on A Primeval Tide of Toxins) and lovable heroine. took a while to get through (3 volumes to go!) and there's always the 1984 movie to consider...

I wanted to read the book to find out all that the movie had left out and was surprised to find that a lot of what was in the movie didnt come from the book. All in all it was a good story though, and it was touching, I am deffinitly glad I read it.

Ugh. I can't believe this was such a big hit. It's such a simple story--I think adults just like a fable they can believe in.

I liked this one the best so far. I'm looking forward to the 4th just to bring the whole thing to the end. I think Edward and Bella's relationship is completely unhealthy at the beginning of this one--him kidnapping her rather than letting her have any friends. However, I'm starting to appreciate him a little more when he relinquished his control and stopped being so possessive of her. She's still a total drip. One thing I still can't figure out is why the teenage girls don't like Jacob. He seems a whole lot better than Edward to me. Maybe the 4th book will reveal why they dislike him so. Andrea's book club choice for January 2010.

I am quite grown up and quite sleepy so I cannot currently well judge a book, but since most of the books I have recently read haven't made it here I must say something. This book is mostly the male version of alice and wonderland, if you were to extend the metaphor. While Alice is passive, Peter is active. The main difference I suppose being the fact that Peter has a "love interest" or more so someone elses have a love interest in peter. The novelized version at points still reads like a play. The commenter will turn to the audience, which makes it feel postmodern. Unlike a lot of older stories it is not horrifyingly creepy or anything, it still comes off as innocent, except perhaps for the fact children are heartless.

Favorilerimden biri. Bana otizm hakkında farklı bir bakış açısı verdi.
