I liked the historical part of this book (the Holocaust is fascinating and disturbing), but the story itself was a little disconnected.

interesting in it's premise - trying to write from an autistic point of view. i don't know if it succeeds - but it is entertaining and clever, and worth the time it takes to read (which is pretty darn fast).

The Red Pyramid is the first book of a great, new series by Rick Riordan. He once again implanted his great ideas of mythology on paper in this exciting book. This time, instead of Roman or Greek mythology, Riordan changed gears and wrote about the mythologies of Egypt. I recommend this to anyone who read and liked Riordan's previous books, such as the Percy Jackson series. I've always been interested in mythology, and this book has put a smile on my face. One thing that I don't like about the book is that it switches point of views every two chapter between the two protagonists, Sadie and Carter. I sometimes will have to reread previous chapter to remember what happened last to either Sadie or Carter. This, however, doesn't make The Red Pyramid a bad book. It is still one of my favorite book and series. Overall, this book is great. I absolutely recommend this to any Rick Riordan fan or anybody who interested in mythology. Though this book is not better than the Percy Jackson series, this book is still a great addition to anybody's bookshelf.

At almost 800 pages it isn’t really that the book is too long, it is more that the story just never gets to a really strong point, it just kind of carries on to arrive at many points. All I kept thinking was how it would have made a really great serial, because the characters were all really well developed and had shades of good and bad but some of their adventures were exciting while others were boring. I felt like if I put the book aside and came back to it after a few weeks the characters would stick with me because I enjoyed them and was interested in what was going to happen to them, so it wouldn’t be hard to come back to, but I also felt like maybe a bit of a break from the story would have made it all feel like less of a drudge just to be done and would have been more enjoyable.
