This was a great book for music nerds. I love the rivalry that seemed to always exist between him and Mic, he makes a point to show you how most of the bands problems were caused by Mic.

This book tests the 'Homestay' theory of long books to the limit: Can you spend 800 pages with strangers in a culture unlike your own, eat all their best food, go to all their swank parties, wear all their finest clothes, hear all the choice gossip, yet never get to speak yourself? The last scene had me tugging on Levin's precious farmer/philosopher arm, saying Excuse me sir, my plane leaves in two pages, we really better round up the coach. Stop staring at the leaves please, you self-satisfied prig. And Anna herself is melodramatic and silly. On the other hand, it's a really engrossing soap opera which feels relevant to the way people think 150 years later, so all right, Leo, 3 stars.

basically it's a bunch of his stand ups bits in a book. Some stuff is funnier when written instead of spoken, but other things work better in their original form. You can basically get the same experience of this book by watching 2 of Carlin's stand up specials. Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad book. It's perfect Carlin...it's just not anything...original.
