I absolutely love Vermeer, particularly this painting, so I am slightly biased when it comes to this book. If you are at all interested in art history, Northern Renaissance artists, or historical fiction, I would recommend this book. It presents an interesting view of life in Holland, and is easy and enjoyable to read.

This was by far one of the most depressing books I've ever read. Alternating between strange poetic insights into the mountains and nature around her and a pitiful resignation at the hardness of her life, the book's protagonist endures a terrible life. The book is predictable and gloomy. What can go wrong will go wrong and even if it's not going wrong yet, you can tell by the author's placement that the scenario will soon darken. Eeyore would like this book.

This book is about a girl named Matilda. her parents are really mean and don't even care what she does. Then when she goes to school she has a teacher named mrs . honey matilda is the best student in the class because she is really smart. But then there is a principle that hates kids expecially small kids. Matilda always plays tricks on her because she hates the principle so much. I learned that you should never talk back to someone or else you will get on their bad side.

As with Anderson's book Our Children Are Forever, this one can be very comforting for those who are grieving, depending upon one's mindset. If you are curious and have an open mind, it's an interesting read and I really liked learning the reasons George attributes for his psychic abilities. Having known two people who had readings by George, I know he has some sort of ability to be spot on, so that made me even more fascinated by him. It's a book that will leave you wondering and it made me feel a bit better during a very tough time.

The emotion that poured through this book was so strong. You could feel her loss in every thought, in ever poem, in everything she did. I loved having the dueling men in her life, the one who represents love and warmth and happiness and the one who keeps her reminded of her grief, of what she's lost, of what she misses. I think the poems really added something to the story and I loved the way it came together at the end. I also want my own bunch of Fontaine brothers living down the road, tyvm.
