Its a graphic novel, but not at-all a comi book. its about the author's experiences growing up during the Iranian(Iraqui?) Revolution. Its funny, but almost every chapter ends in tragedy. so its kind of a sick joke. Having said that, a really good book. Its not long , but when you finish its, you'll wish it was. There's a sequel: Perseopolis 2

There was way too much implausibility in this book for me to accept. I might have been able to overlook some of it if there was particularly good prose or humor, but there wasn't. It was readable, but if your time is limited, you might not want to waste it on this book.

This has been the best book of the series until now. Mostly because this time, the flat bad guys stayed in a distant castle, MINDING THEIR OWN BUSINESS, for the most of the story. Also, there were one or two fairly interesting characters. Good job Mrs. Lorentz, you're getting there.

I had to read this for one of my tutoring clients and at first was excited–thought it might be like The Little Prince or something. Then as I did my research on the book and author I was kind of horrified to find out he had some affiliation with the KKK in the past and that when the book was published in 1970's it was passed off as an autobiography...Twenty years later they found that to be completely false. When reading the book you can see the author's opinion on American politics and government...and his belief in segregation. I'm also one of those people who can no longer watch Woody Allen or Mel Gibson movies. So I suppose you could say that I can't separate the art from the artist...

Another good read by Ms. Dare; the quality of her writing exceeds that found in most romance novels, IMO. Her characters are relatable and engaging, in part due to their well developed psychologies that evolve logically throughout the book. She's becoming a new favorite author of mine. I think if you liked Twice Tempted by a Rouge, you will like Bram and Susanna's story (and vice versa).

I, for once, have nothing against the writing or the secondary characters or the plot, all of which were fine. My problem is Emilia. Her motivations are off-base (she doesn't like her dad or her mom, so she acts like her Dad ... what?) and she's incredibly self-centered. Plus, if she was so wracked with guilt at "killing" Isabel, why didn't she just have a doctor look at the autopsy? Don't most people know that there are always signs of asphyxiation that show up in an autopsy? They wouldn't say that Isabel died of SIDS if there was a chance she died of smothering - they'd investigate to find out if she was smothered. Chick lit.

This book was written by a French woman who was an exchange student in the US and gained some weight. When she went back to France, her doctor helped her loose the weight. She gives good advice on how to eat right and eat well. If you enjoy eating and are trying to loose weight, I highly recommend this book. It's easy to read, funny, and even has some French recipes in it.
