I absolutely LOVED this book! At first I was a bit hesistant because I don't frequently read books where the main character is over 25, but in this case I was glad I did. I had this book sitting on my shelf for almost 2 years without reading it. I'm glad that I picked it up, the blurb at the back caught my attention and my spark to read it was once again ignighted. I really loved Shannon/Rhea's character in the book. Her humour and love for whine was brilliant, and in general her kindness was astounding. She was a strong and well built character who deserves recognition. I also loved the fact that she had to explain everything when Alana or ClanFintan didn't know what she was talking about. I also really liked Alana's character - and the way she was so devoted to Rhea. ClanFintan on the other hand - just hot. Even for a centaur, the way he was described made you want to fall in love with him yourself. Big, strong and caring man full of love and protection - and hot! What girl wouldn't want Mr. Dreamy Centaur? Although it took me more than a few days to read this book, I felt like I could hardly put it down when I had the chance to read. PC Cast never fails to write an excellent book, which draws you in ever so quickly and keeps you in that same seat the entire way through the book. I am definitely hanging for more and cannot wait to read 'Divine by Choice' (which I am about to start). I give the book 5 stars, and recommend it to any young adults, or adults who love a good read.

This was a very good read. A memoir of a woman/mother dealing with breast cancer while coping with her father's stage four prostate cancer. Very uplifting. Would easily be a good book group book.

I know a lot of readers didn't care for the romantic angle fully developed in this book, but I really enjoyed it. The two main characters have such a damaging background and live so far outside what anyone would consider normal life, the mutual feelings make perfect sense. I'm saddened there are no more books in this series as some of the peripheral characters here are fascinating. Not quite Anne Bishop levels of reading for the supporting cast, but I was certainly excited when some old friends return.

This book was painful to read. I couldn't ever make sense of what it was about. I didn't care about the characters. I thought the writing style was annoying. Unfortunately, once I start a book I have to finish it.

Paul Little is an ex-con with a destructive personality. Looking for loopholes in life to dodge normalcy he reverts to a life on the mean Philadelphia streets, breaking off a relationship with his level-headed girlfriend, and as soon as his parole period ends, breaks off all ties to the straight and narrow. Why? Well, this really isn't explained apart from the broad sweeping 'call of the streets'. This frustrated me. Paul didn't have a gang or criminal crew to return to. There was no loyalty to any criminal faction or particular affinity to underworld dealings (apart from a loose connection with a barbershop front) - so why did Paul revert to the dangerous and blood soaked life on the streets of Philadelphia? After reading THE SCIENCE OF PAUL, I still don't know the answer. That's not to say I didn't have a good time reading the book. Paul post Tammy (the ex-girlfriend) makes for entertaining reading. He manages to get involved in a murder, acts as a stand-over man, and gets in deep trouble with the law. All those aspects were great. Plus, he's a character with a conscious - of sorts - remember, the criminal life crept back into his being so he was never going to be irredeemable, which suits me fine. Author Aaron Philip Clark knows how to write. THE SCIENCE OF PAUL is downright brutal at times, balanced with a poetic narrative that screams noir. Yet, the major fault, in my opinion, is the rationale. I need to know why Paul sought out the life he did rather than settling for a generic catch phrase. A friend of mine who is equally fond of quirkiness and random deep thoughts recommended this book to me, and I'm really glad I finally listened and picked it up. There were a couple parts near the beginning that I had a hard time getting through, but for the most part it was entertaining as well as thought-provoking. There's so much in this book that can be taken apart and examined--modern-day American culture, love, the meaning of symbols... and throughout the book there's the encouragement to live life passionately, to fully enjoy every bit of it--which is my main philosophy on life. Plus, the book is freaking funny.

I read this book as an early-twentysomething single college student, and could totally relate to the main character Elizabeth! I remember people staring at me as I laughed out loud while reading at a bus stop or while waiting for a professor to show up to class. I matched up each character to someone I knew in real life. Also, I think I watched every version of the movie that semester, and there are quite a few!
