The Emily of the letters is different from the Emily of the poems. She is overwhelmingly full of love and affection and sweet thoughts in the letters (of course this is just a selection) -- a different tone from the poems. An intriguing companion but medium-weight in comparison to the poems. I would've appreciated more annotations to some of the letters in this edition. The way the notes were presented in this edition were a bit awkward, coming as they did in the same heading and format as the recipient and date. But the little size, hard cover, and bookmark ribbon were very pleasing.

Don't really remember what this book was about, besides it being about girl who goes off to this academy for witches or something and falls in love with this guy. I remember that I liked it. Sorry about not remembering =D

I read this ages ago when I was in high school (or possibly in junior high). While I gather it isn't bad for the genre of romance novels, I was less than impressed at the time and I imagine I'd be less than impressed now, though I may give it a try if I become sufficiently bored. For the time being, I give it a resounding "meh."

This book is a classic! I've read it about five times, and it just keeps getting better with each time.

By turns suspenseful and perfectly sweet, filled with fantastically teenagerish teenagers, this was a quick, engaging read. I loved the way Mitchell painted the sticky heat of a southern summer and how she sketched out family dynamics. Totally perfect summer mystery.

(read an ARC) With an opening sentence like "It is the first day of November, and so, today, someone will die," it's no wonder that The Scorpio Races captivated me from beginning to end. The story is simply breathtaking, managing to be both beautiful and terrible in its creativity and musical prose that brings both the world and the characters to life; the way Stiefvater intertwines Sean and Puck's lives was amazing. If anything, this novel doesn't actually focus on the mythical legend of capaill uische (water horses)--there are underlying themes of courage, survival, hope, and determination.
