I first read this book about six years ago and I can definitely say I appreciate it more now that I've lived in the context of this region of the world. A bit long-winded at times (especially when describing the relationship between Hintza and Francois, but I like dogs so I can't complain too much) but otherwise the writing and story are both truly beautiful.

So I gave this book a shot since it was recommended to me and I was so happy I did! Ive been in the mood for humorous PNR and this was very much a fun read. I finished it in a day so it was a fast and fun paced story, the lead characters sara and zach have awesome snarky chemistry and a major love hate relationship right off the back. Sara has lived with the scars of her past on her since she was attacked and put in a coma and her father killed when she was young. Living under the care of her crazy grandmother she is finally able to breath after she passes away, it may sounds harsh but her grandmother was one crazy woman. When some bikers come to town looking for sara and bring back a past she was never told about, she has to face her fate and her life with zach. I love sara and her two friend miki and angelina they are a hillarious bunch!

I didn't hate this book but it's very slow with irrelevant details and then jumps right into long details about war & then about nursing during the war. Not exactly what I expected but I was dying to finish it- which is sort of the point, to keep you interested. It's not a happy story but it was good.

The third in a series of preteen books about a girl who lives at "Cape". Not to be confused with THE Cape, as in Cape Cod. Cute books and very clean and good for little girls and sort of entertaining for me too. I like this type of easy read sometimes. =)

After finishing this book last night, I’m still scratching my head trying to figure it out. It begins at a detention center near London. Little Bee is released after spending 2 years there. At this point, you don’t know much about her or her background. You learn about the 4 women she gets released with and how they end up on a farm. Meanwhile, Andrew and Sarah, who live in a suburb of England, are linked to Little Bee somehow but little is revealed at this point. The story goes back and forth between past and present and little by little the story unfolds. I was into this book after about 30 pages. It was interesting, very unique. Little Bee is strong and determined. Andrew is weak. Sarah seems strong but makes bad decisions. Lawrence is despicable. And poor Charlie is caught in the middle. The end of this book was fast paced but I had a very hard time believing it. It ended so abruptly, I had to read it again to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I give this book a 5 for it’s extraordinary plot, however, overall it was disappointing to me. The ending ruined it.

Tired rehashing of chick-lit stand-bys: narcisistic, thoroughly unsympathetic narrator with no self-awareness (hint: she thinks (a) she's a wit and (b) her life merits our attention) pens a painfully superficial diary about an improbable string of events. Horse. Dead. Still being beaten. (Find a new trick, pony! Yeah, I'm talking to you, chick-lit.)

Complicated, sad love story. There was a lot of God-stuff that I wasn't into. But I liked how the main guy remained selfish and bitter even in the face of miracles. This was the last line, "O God, You've done enough, You've robbed me of enough, I'm too tired and old to learn to love, leave me alone for ever."
