I'm not a Henry James fan, but I have to admit that, despite the wordiness, this story is amazing - and I still don't know what happened! James is the master of suspense and subtlety in English prose. Thank goodness this is just a novella...

What makes Stoddard's memoir so engaging isn't his motley collection of sexual exploits, but his wry, self-deprecating style. That said, as Stoddard becomes more sexually confident, the book loses some of its momentum.

This is another amazing addition to the series. Here in "Encouraging the Writer", the story revolves around a wonderful take on a Shakespeare classic. While the slings and arrows are hurled at the making of this 'production', the play within the story that is, a marvelous love blossoms on its own between the producer and the writer. In a classic Serena ending, the two gentlemen celebrate a triumphant confrontation with their 'critics' in a bewitching setting that really exists in Edinburgh. I look forward to the fourth New Horizon as soon as possible.

Harry Dresden is Chicago's only professional wizard, and a sometime consultant for the Chicago PD. In a wold where Vampires, Werewolves and Fearies are real, Dresden stands up for the innocent and often finds himself in trouble for it. Butcher has created an "Other-Chicago" that is just believable enough to be real. His books are gritty and violent and not for children but they are also amusing, hilarious and chock full of pop culture references. While it would be easy to compare these books to Harry Potter and Twilight because of the subject matter any such comparisons would be a disservice to Butcher and the wonderful, magical world he has created. Dresden is by far my favorite literary wizard and Butcher's books never fail to entertain.

Another Ellis favorite, following the lives of college kids in a fiction college. Ellis' characterization is brilliant even if the people he writes about are sometimes completely worthless.

This story had a fabulous plot idea. He was a decent author, but a bit long in the tooth. Many of his descriptions were far too much information considering the speed at which I wanted to read due to it's interesting nature. Also, his far-too-abundant declarations of the love that Nick and Julia share were too perfect, too contrived. It wasn't necessary for me to keep hearing of their perfect relationship (a little vomit-inducing at times) in order to believe he would go to such a length to try to save her. It was a quick read that kept me interested in what would happen (even if I had to skim many paragraphs to avoid the superfluous descriptions). A creative topic that could use some paring down, but kudos to the author to attempt another story about time-travel and keep it interesting.

Very good, very deep, very long. Come on Dave, you could have told this story with 200 less pages.

I found the story more enjoyable than "On the Road"

One of those books that I didnt expect much from and thought I knew how it would end. But actually enjoyed the book and the ending. Will definitely keep it to read again.

#6 in Confessions of Georgia Nicolson -- hilarity continues, including the family's trip to Memphis TN for a "clown car" convention in Hamburger-a-gogo land.
