Sounds kind of like "the prince and me"

I've had so many people recommend this book to me--and so far I'm enjoying it. It is quite engrossing and I love the way that the author is portraying the character of God--an African-American woman named Papa. :) I'll let you know what I think of the whole thing when I finish. Ok, I finished it. I really liked it as a theological picture of God's relationship to humanity. I loved the character of Sarayu, moving like the wind. One of my favorite parts of the novel is where she explains how the move from law to grace is a move from a noun to a verb (ok, so I probably like this because I'm an English teacher!), "verbs such as confessing, repenting, living, loving, responding, growing, reaping, changing, sowing, running, dancing, singing, and on and on. Humans, on the other hand, have a knack for taking a verb that is alive and full of grace and turning it into a dead noun or principle that reeks of rules." I don't think this book is a novel--it is more like an allegory, like Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. I think that is you're expecting a theological allegory, you'll enjoy the book tremendously. But if you're looking for a well-written story, then you might not like it as much. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to re-reading it.

Recommended reading by Notre Dame Prof. Christian Smith. I read this book to prepare for my PhD studies in Sociology. It's fairly engaging for a dense topic, and covers the development of sociology as a discipline by examining the thought of prominent sociologists as clustered around the themes of community, authority, sacred, status, and alienation. A very good introduction and a good complement to Turner's "The Emergence of Sociological Theory."

The end ruined the rest of it. It was a cop out ending.

This was the quintessential read of my formative years (high school), so I'm partial to it, to say the least.

Title: The Host Author Stephenie Meyer Pages: 619 Publisher: Little, Brown and Company,May 6th 2008 0316068047 (isbn13: 9780316068048) Imagine the worse of the worse that could happen to your life. For example, being unrecognized, and then abandoned by your family, including your closest friends, and relatives---the end of your human life, taking over by another alien territory. This is exactly what happened to Melanie, who caught by parasites, the human enemies. A kind soul has been implanted into Melanie’s body, causing manipulations. Her name is Wanderer, who had been to several wonderful planets before descending to the earth. This book is amazingly amazing, it’s heartbreaking, and provokable. It will opens up your imagination of being a prisoner stuck in a secretive dark hole; risking every chance for your own survival before getting kill by love ones. The Host is this first adult novel written by Stephanie Meyer, who had hit the number-one New York Times bestseller on her famous Twilight Saga. The interpretable writing style of Mrs. Meyer’s remains fragrance from her Twilight soga. However, the beginning half of the book was absolutely irritating and devastating because of the throwing back-and-fourth conversation and the desert journey between Melanie and Wanderer. The structure of the book actually reminded me of a TV show called the Kyle XY, because the way Wanderer implanted into Melanie’s body is based on the same technology. In comparison, both kyle and Melanie slept in a rank after their special surgery and watched by healers. They were confused who they are first and then started their journey. The only disappointment for this book is that Melanie did not have special power as Kyle does. I think this book would be much more interesting if either Wanderer or Melanie have extraordinary power. This is a great book. In fact, The Host is actually the first scientific book that I have read, and then I like it. I certainly want to recommend it to people who don't like scientific novels and give it a try. This book will host your eyes if you have patients for it.

Absolut empfehlenswert!

This is a great read for small businesses, a must-buy book. I will see if they have a later edition of it. Very resourceful and helpful for someone thinking about starting her own companies now and near future. 4.5 stars.

I am partial to this work as it was the first bit of Orwell I had read as a kid and I was blown away. First time I had ever encountered anything of its nature (outside of the True Story about the 3 Little Pigs, which had a similar effect on me.)
