I always hesitate to review my favorite books thinking my review wouldn't do justice with the book. This book turned out to be my favorite from page 1. I received the e-copy of this book through LibraryThing Giveaway. This book took me pretty long time to read, partly because of the fact that I didn't want it finish. The author produced a very vivid descriptions of landscapes and the fictitious Laureal City. The book is half narrated by Kardith, and half in the third person. I personally enjoy the books with switching narration. I loved the characters especially Kardith and Terricel. There wasn't much about their past in the beginning, everything was revealed as the story went on. This is a great book and I strongly recommend it to fantasy lovers. Read my full review here.

At times difficult to read because it was written like a fan fiction entry based on the 2005 movie. There is a lot of "adore you, love you, you are my sun, moon, my everything, etc." and that got tiresome. But as I have been always fascinated in what happens after P&P I gave it a go. It was still an easy read and only took a few days so not a waste of time I guess. :-)

Tolkien's last book. Just published by his son. So far, it's a fascinating read, although a bit hard to follow, as expected when reading Tolkien. There is major emphasis placed on geneology, and that bogs you down a bit. I will update when I am finished reading it.

I feel mean giving this book a low rating because I really am a fan of Lisa McMann's simple but beautiful prose and speculative storytelling. There was just something missing here for me with this one. I was engaged, but never fully and completely, and the mystery was a little underwhelming (even predictable). One of the novel's strengths is Kendall, a sweet girl who suffers from OCD. That aspect of the story was pretty interesting, but it isn't enough to carry the whole novel (even one as short as this one). The door has been left open to turn this into a series, but I really hope McMann restrains herself from being tempted to do so. If you are going to read McMann, I would highly recommend that you start with Wake, and skip Cryer's Cross altogether.
