Very few books can leave such an impact. This book describes the author's journey into her ancestry and the modern conflicts that plagued the former Yugoslavian republics in the 1990s. Her prose is delicate and emotional and from the very first page it left me breathless. Three parts biography and one part anthropological study. This is a book I keep lending out and never get back!

Carter’s writing had me at hello… Cheesy, but I really fell in love with her prose and ability to describe things without actually having to be overly descriptive. The action in the first few chapters really sucked me into the story, and the drama and mix of humor was great. I really liked Kate from the very beginning also. She was truly a realistic character with real problems that I felt she handled gracefully, and very much the way a girl in her position would. As the story moved along, I was a little disappointed that I figured out the plot and characters from the start, I was hoping for more of a twist in there somewhere, but I still really enjoyed the story. It was beautifully written and the characters were awesome. Although Henry was a hottie, his and Kate’s relationship seemed a little too distant and forced. And although I understand why this was, and that was part of Henry’s character—because of what he’s been through—I couldn’t help wanting more of a connection between him and Kate. I also wanted to see more of his powers. He’s Hates. God of the Underworld. I didn’t really get a sense of power—of that fire, I felt was needed for his role. But near the end, I did see a more passion in his emotions toward Kate, I just wished it could have come earlier in the story. I’m looking forward to the next installment with hopes that their relationship will develop on a deeper level. James was a great character. He didn’t get much ‘screen’ time, but I feel he’s going to play a much bigger role in the next book. I felt the ending wrapped up tightly, and had a satisfying resolution, and I’m definitely diving into the next one as soon as it’s released. This is a wonderful addition to the YA market and I think anyone who loves stories of Greek Mythology, romance, and heart-felt, well developed characters will enjoy The Goddess Test.

What's nice about it is that it is a lot of theology without sifting through a lot of stories from old times. I think it is different than most religious texts in that way... then again, I'm biased. ;) But in this day and age, this is something to read if you're curious about the faith and don't want to get all your information from FoxNews.

This was NOT my favorite book by J.R.Ward,by far. ***Possible spoiler alert*** The way Manny and Payne fell in love was a bit much,but what REALLY got me was his rather unorthodox method of treatment. Then there is Vishous. Wow,this guy is seriously screwed up!! I really did not like him through the 1st half of the book,but he finally redeemed himself. I,personally do not find his extreme closeness w/Butch to be all that believable. C'mon,what 2 guys will comfort each other by laying naked in each others arms and NOT have anything sexual between them? Although Butch did seem to know how to cure what ailed V,or at least put it into remission. There really was not much action in the book. When Payne disappeared,I thought there would finally be some excitement,but it fizzled out.And talk about coincidence! I thought the way Butch turned out to be part vampire in his book was pretty pat. MASSIVE SPOILER HERE!!!!!! But now Manny finds out he and Butch are half brothers and he is related to Wrath?! Bruth-errrrrrr! Too much coincidence here,by far. We have a few new characters in this book that might turn out to be pretty interesting. I am looking forward to seeing what develops in the next book between the Band of Brothers and the Band of Bastards! And what about the heartbreak one of these bastards feels about his sister. I have a feeling we will be hearing more about brother and sister in the next installment....
