I'm one of the few who thinks JK is anything but a phenomenal writer. I think her style is dry and lacking and sometimes elementary. It's been getting better and this book is the \"best\" so far. I love her plots though, hence I read the books. This one had great twists...but I don't particularly care for her portrayl of characters (because I now hate just about everybody). Harry was way over the top in my opinion and I could not stand him. Having the reader hate the protagonist is not something an author should do.

If there is a word in some English dictionary that Burke has not used (and sometimes seemingly in a single novel) I would like to know what it is. It would have made reading this book less tedious if it had been only 336 pages long instead of 536. I skipped a lot but none the less could not put it down. His characters are amazing.

I'm not too sure i learned anything from it, other than don't get wound up with a coke addict who happens to be in a famous boyband. I wouldn't say i didn't enjoy it though. Sometimes it's good to read something that really doesn't take any thought process at all- especially when everything else you seem to be doing really does.

oh, i just love this book. i know the story completely, i've seen all the movie adaptations, and i'll revel in it time and time again. jane austen is just fun sometimes. i can go on about the scathing portrayal of 19th century england, and i can go on about the surprisingly modern feminist undertones, or i can go on about just how dreamy mr. darcy is. the book does have artistic merit, this i will say, and i can easily stomach the portrayal of the female characters (jane eyre? are you serious?) but i love it simply because i can get swept away in the romanticized and dramatized english manor lifestyle. oh, be still my beating heart! but this is by far the farthest i will ever venture in the chick litty goop that plagues bookshelves today. if the new "the devil wears confessions of a slut in stilettos" would even pretend to have intelligence, i might feel otherwise.
