My favourite by Vonnegut.

A fun continuation of the Runelords series, this book feels more like "Part 1" of a new story arc (which, of course, it is) than a fully self-contained story. Still, it does a good job of introducing us to a new set of characters, problems, and ideas without suffering from Robert Jordan syndrome (i.e., everything is TWICE as dangerous as in the last book. Now everything is even MORE dire!) Worth the read if you've been keeping up with Farland's Runelords.

*Audio version* Overall I enjoyed this post-apocalyptic, cyber punk love story meets Dr. Moreau. (And yes, I did envision Marlon Brando while listening to a certain character speak.) It was slow in parts, compelling in others.

A great book. Really enjoyed it.It being about codes and codebreaking made it really interesting. Throughout the book the reader tries to decipher what actually cud be the key to unlock the fatal code, and the ending is lyk real awesome. I wish they'd make a movie out of it.

There is a shortage of fiction written with characters between the ages of 20 and 30. YA usually covers high school characters, but it is hard to find many books that deal with college or early adulthood issues. One reason I was excited to read The Fallback Plan is because the protagonist is a recent college graduate who has returned home to live with her parents while she figures out what to do with her life. Esther is clearly dealing with some depression issues, but thinking back to the years following my own college graduation, I could relate to many of the things she was experiencing. I remember the time period of trying to navigate life between being a college kid and a responsible adult. Like Esther, I am sure I made some less-than-stellar choices during that time. While I loved little May, I kind of wanted to shake most of the adult characters and tell them to grow up...with the exception of Esther's parents. I liked them quite a bit, and it was obvious they loved their daughter. But the high school friends? It was clear from the beginning that they were losers and I wanted to tell Esther to move on and never look back. (Pickle may have been an okay guy, but I could never get past that ridiculous name!) Amy has a good excuse for being a little crazy, but I wanted to scream at her that she is better than that. She is intelligent enough to know that she needed help, I thought. And Nate...well, I really liked him at first, then he turned out to be kind of creepy. I did feel a bit sorry for him though, trying to hold his family together basically on his own. The Fallback Plan is a quick read that deals with some heavy issues without being too morose or depressing. I would love to see more of this post-college genre! ***Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC.

I was really unsure as to reading this book as I am not one for dragons, but after constant pestering by a friend I picked it up and REALLY thoroughly enjoyed this. Despite it being set during war I found it a really warm and friendly book. It may sound like a very silly thing, but, I really enjoyed the lack of swearing which is getting rarer and rarer these days in books. The relationship that Laurence has with Temeraire (His dragon) was really clear and you could really feel yourself warm to all the characters. Every character in the book had soul and when one died you actually really felt for the character as they seemed alive. I can not wait to see Peter Jackson's interpretation of this on the big screen.

This book caught my attention from the moment I picked it up and found it hard to put down. It's an amazing tale of the Fae, love, confusion, magic and what can happen when you follow your heart. Deidre was used to getting attention for her music abilities though she just wants to be loved for herself. Her best friend James is always there to lend support, defend and bring comic relief. When she encounters Luke on a summer day for a competition, she has no idea how much he will change her life and get her to believe in herself. Deidre soon learns that she's a cloverhand who is someone that can see the Fae and she has powers. With the support of James, Luke and unlikely allies, she learns to believe in herself and starts learning how to use her powers. Not everything is as it seems and tragedy will strike, causing her to question what she took for granted and two people she holds dear will be put into danger. Read more to find out what happens, it will be well worth the wait!

As a Kristan Higgins fan, you might enjoy the humor, three dimensional characters, and canine companions in Jennifer Crusie’s books. All of Crusie’s books are lots of fun, but you might want to start with Crazy for You.

abraham focuses specifically on the experience of a poor, African-American family living in the slums of urban Chicago in order to provide an overview of the US health care system and its failings. she's a journalist, so the book is well-written and engaging but is occasionally more preachy and alarmist than factual.
