You can see why this is an award winning book. The literary trick of two character storylines being interwoven until the climax at the end is very engaging. The author is fabulous at subtle foreshodowing of what's to come. I loved it.

I always hesitate to review my favorite books thinking my review wouldn't do justice with the book. This book turned out to be my favorite from page 1. I received the e-copy of this book through LibraryThing Giveaway. This book took me pretty long time to read, partly because of the fact that I didn't want it finish. The author produced a very vivid descriptions of landscapes and the fictitious Laureal City. The book is half narrated by Kardith, and half in the third person. I personally enjoy the books with switching narration. I loved the characters especially Kardith and Terricel. There wasn't much about their past in the beginning, everything was revealed as the story went on. This is a great book and I strongly recommend it to fantasy lovers. Read my full review here.

It took me a while to get around to reading this book. And I'm not going to lie, it's disturbing. I tend to do a lot of my reading on my lunch break and there were many times where I felt queasy and unable to eat while reading it. But it's addictive, I couldn't put it down. The book is about a family of sideshow freaks who own and operate a traveling circus. The main character is Oly, an albino, hunchback dwarf who in her family is considered the least freakish and talented. That right there should give you an idea of what the rest of her family is like. The main problem I had with the book was that the author's writing tended to be overly descriptive for my taste which sometimes distracted me. The other was that it could have been much longer. I would have liked to have known what happened to Miranda and Crystal Lil.

Incest is not usually a topic that you would think would make for an enjoyable play. This play managed to make a combination of incest and JFK assassination obsession into a funny engaging play that was very enjoyable regardless of its large ick factor.

Found in a second hand charity shop. Ballard's later works have haunting subjects with really clean and British prose, like eating really nice soap(see my upcoming review of Super Cannes). But this book was really tacky and short which in my opinion is a great asset. Really fun to read with lots of closed circuit television and uber-sheltered wealth and isolation imagery; not to mention killer kites.
