I liked this book. It kept my 2 oldest kids engaged and it was fun. The only part I didn't like was the fact that the main boy, Omri was in England. I would generally like the English part of it, but it's about cowboys and indians. That is as American as baseball and apple pie. My other small niggle is that the picture of the longhouse (Indian house) didn't look right. It looked like a house in the suburbs.

I enjoyed reading this book because it had went more in depth into the tale of Beauty and the Beast than usual. I liked all the details the short fairy tale version leaves out and I remember thinking the description was vivid. This book started a short obsession with this fairy tale and other fairy tales.

Little Women is such a wonderful book. I remember reading it along with my best friend when we were 14. We would call each other periodically and ask each other what part of the book we were currently reading. We were sure not to tell too much about any part of the book that the other hadn't reached yet. And we were not racing each other to finish it because it was so great. Jo, Amy, Beth, and Meg are unforgettable characters. And at the age of 14, I romanticized about becoming a famous writer just like Jo March. I must re-read this book soon. It has been many years.

Finally!! I friggin finished this book! I just couldn't get into this book, the characters, and the story just wasn't enough to keep me reading. I found myself constantly putting the book down and then picking it back up, only to read a couple of pages before I put it down again. I found the story to be predictable and unfortunately too similar to Anderson's 9 books that are in this series. I don't think I will continue with her series unless the next book is highly recommended. :(
