She is born in the summer, and a few months later when fall arrives, she and part of her herd are brought to the farm of a human family. The family's young daughter, Amma, becomes very close to the filly, and names her Elska. The horse and the young girl develop a strong bond. However, Amma's father decides to trade Elska to a neighbor, confusing Elska and breaking Amma's heart. Will they ever be reunited again? Told from the point of view of Elska, this was a cute story that is sure to appeal to young girls who love horses, particularly those who also enjoy historical fiction. The book teaches some interesting facts about life for both horses and humans in Iceland in this time period. The illustrations were very well done and were adorable. I would definitely recommend this book to the target audience.

This book is a very easy read. It was a little graphic for my taste, but it was alright. The book flashes back to when the main character was in the circus in the 1920s and 1930s, but when it flashes back to the present, the book is very slow and boring.

Outside in by Maria V Snyder is a continuation of Trella's story that began in Inside Out. The revolution is over and work has begun expanding the inside to higher levels so the population of the Inside can spread out. Unfortunately, things have not turned out as well as hoped since the revolution. Scrubs are bitter about having to work while they feel the uppers are living in luxury, the newly formed committee is not getting anything done and someone has been sabotaging important systems putting the Inside at risk for destruction. Outside In is an exciting science fiction thriller. The world building is excellent, the reader can feel the tension in the different sections of the ship and the smallness of the tunnels that Trella uses to get around the ship. The romance is not overpowering or overwritten but still provides Trella with a much needed social connection. I was continually on my seat as to what was going to happen next and the ending had a nice finality that is rarely seen in the young adult genre of endless sequels. I enjoyed this novel even more than the original. Appropriateness: This is a book that can be appreciated by the entire young adult audience. There is a bit of sexual content (which is not descriptive) but no sex or alcohol. Trella is a strong girl who doesn't think twice about putting herself at risk to save others or to fight for what she believes in. This is a very exciting book with a lot of action that will be enjoyed by readers of dystopian as well as science fiction.

Very good, but definitely not my favorite John Irving book. I will say, however, that I read this book 8 years ago, and to this day I don't turn my steering wheel to the left when stopped at an intersection waiting to make a left turn. If you've read the book, you will understand.

** spoiler alert ** ............OH MY GOD this book really made me love Jacob a little more. I am really going crazy about what twilight team I'm on. I started out with Team Edward then i sort of shifted to Team Jacob after reading new moon, but then i slowly went back to Edward learning why he left, and then i moved to Team Jasper, and Team Jasper i will always stay :) So let's not listen to me rambling on about nothing, let's get back in the right direction.....the book. So AMAZING i absolutely loved it. I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. ahhh another amazing book from Stephanie Meyer.

How I Stole Johnny Depp’s Alien Girlfriend was a humorous young adult science fiction novel about a boy who becomes enamored with his father’s mental patient. The two teens go on a romp through Paris searching for the girl’s soul-mate, Johnny Depp. Although I got a few good laughs out of this story, I don’t think it was appropriate for the target audience. As far as I’m concerned, sexual content is a little iffy in books written for any teen, but it is especially inappropriate when the book is written for 15-year-olds.
