If you read this book to criticize, to find flaws, to check the editing, to complain about the sex, better give this book a miss. But, if you are like me, easy to please, you love vampire and werewolf together, steamy sex scenes and overall you don't expect firework, this story is definitely for you, I like it a lot :)

Interesting and lively account of smallpox epidemic in Puritan Boston and debate among Mather, Franklin and various others on vaccination and the role of the church. Williams has no trouble bringing this period to life but his depiction of Cotton Mather as a man of science and reason taking on the superstitious peasantry is simply bizarre in light of Mather's role as unrepentant chief supporter and instigator of the Salem Witch Trials of the late 1600's -- which Williams completely and utterly glosses over. Sort of like discussing Dr. Mengele's brilliant medical career. An unforgivable lapse.

This was the first book I had ever read by this author, and I was hooked after reading it. It is about the greed that followed the decimation left behind by a major hurricane (can't remember the name of the hurricane!) in Southern Florida.

Her comics have always cracked me up, and while this novel isn't exactly FUNNY, it's certainly interesting and different than anything else I've ever read. Her other novel, The Good Times Are Killing Me, will crack yo ass up.

I recently read the novel by Jhumpa Lahiri after watching the film. The film is absolutely wonderful. I mean the film is far better than the book. The visual appeal of the film is far more than the appeal of the book. Must read this book to witness someone's sensitivity in writing.

A very well executed piece set in the near future. At the end of her life a woman looks back on her life as a musician, having lived through many of the defining moments of the 21st century. Although this is SF it has strong literary leanings and the characterisation is excellent, rich, sympathetic and three-dimensional. In many ways this needn't be set in the future, and as such is not really science fiction, except for the one issue it deals with sparingly but clearly throughout the book, that of uploading. As the lead character reflects on her life, the book reflects on the meaning of identity, and how this could meaningfully be transferred to a different reality. This book deserves a much wider reading than I suspect it will receive.

Not my favorite kind of book. It was fun and mind opening, but I like to get more into a story, the plot and characters. But for what was expected of a long poetry story, it delivered. There is a different character speaking on each page and they are all somehow related. Each character has their own problem and for some reason are all connected to Keesha's house, a place where they can feel they are accepted. Whether you are a couple dealing with teen pregnancy, a gay teenager, someone with a juvi record, a runaway foster kid. Keesha's house is a place they can all come to temporarily to find themselves again and what they really want. All of these teenagers have to make choices that are more mature than they are. That's the problem a lot of teens face, circumstances in their life force them to grow up fast, but in many cases there is no one to look up to for guidance. But these are all teens who took their actions and consequences and made good choices from there. The good choices might not be the easiest, but they still make them. I would recommend it to students because they can gain their own assurance, that they are the best judge of what is right for them, and they take the responsibility of their actions and go UP from there.

bu muhtemelen John Grisham'ın en iyi kitabı.
