Hannah's surprised to find twin babies abandoned to her care in front of her daycare center. Her matchmaking aunt Gertie promptly calls Jackson, the town's newly returned pediatrician, to make sure they are healthy. Hannah and Jackson go way back--they'd been two thirds of a trio (with their pal Ethan), all the way through school. That friendship lasted until Hannah and Ethan's wedding day, when Jackson fled town after the ceremony and broke off all contact with them. Jackson's recently returned to town after his father's passing. He'd never considered himself worthy of Hannah, and she's spent years wondering what she did to drive him away. A pleasant enough read, if a bit trite and with the hero making some misguided assumptions. Hannah's a pretty straight shooter though, and that was pleasing to see. A few plot elements were introduced which make it clear this is part of a series.

I like Clarke's books, I think it's interesting to see an insider's perspective on the situation. Given how things went, it's illuminating to say the least.

Revolves around British Dipolmats in America following the McCarthy era. A blend of fact and fiction from the political era of the Kennedy's. Could not sympathize with the adulterous Diplomats wife and her finding her soulmate in a reporter while deeply loving her husband and unable to bear the thought of life without her children but then offering to sacrifice them at the end. I was bored with the affair but loved the political parts as the thoughts and emotions of both sides were expressed with the outcome being known for decades. In that way the politics became real and not just history. The first hand accounts of the battle at Dien Bien Phu enabled me to get a feeling of what happened there. True to life, several of the men were haunted by the part they played in the wars and explains why many won't talk of their experiences afterwards. Easy read.

I started reading this book years ago and loved it. But, I lost it and haven't finished it yet. One day.

I am torn on whether to give this book a three or four star review. There a parts of the novel that flew by - a wonderful story line that kept me reading and anxiously wondering what would happen next. But there were also parts that I found so dull, I could barely get through the page! Poor Jane Eyre endures a lot in this book. Growing up penniless with a cruel aunt; her early years at Lowood half starved; finding her true love, only to discover his terrible secret. I don't want to give too much away there. This is definitly a book about hardship, morals, and finding your own path to do what is right. I am pleased to say that in the end, those who stay true to their beliefs are rewarded.

It just keeps getting better! Some surprise twists and turns and an action-packed few hundred page turns later and I'm left wanting the third book. Definitely high on my lists of series' I love. Highly recommended!

This is 13 of a 20 book series. Although they are getting alarmingly similar I still love reading about life on the ships. And the doctor is such a hoot.

Read this book of short stories on a New Hampshire camping trip. I'm a fan of Isabel Allende but this wasn't one of my faves. Still good though. Full of the typical magical realism that permeates her work.

19-year-old Jane’s parents are dead after a car crash. She has to drop out of school and take a nanny job to survive. The agency places her with rock star, Nico Rathburn, because she cares little for pop culture. Jane becomes caregiver to his daughter, Maddy. Nico seems puzzled by Jane’s simplicity and non-groupie behavior. Jane really doesn’t know what to think of Nico. If you know the story of Jane Eyre than you will not be surprised by the rest of the plot. April Lindner follows Charlotte Bronte’s story pretty faithfully. Settings are one of the things I love most about books and I was pulled right in. I love how the author describes the Thornfield Park, the beautiful grounds and the barn where Nico’s band rehearsed. I very much enjoyed this book. But mostly it was because of the mood and feeling I had while reading it. I felt like I was at Thornfield Park in the beautiful fields feeling all the same feelings as Jane. I got lost in her world.
