I found myself disliking the main character (Georgia Bottoms) almost the beginning and continued reading just to find out how she gets put in her place. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the outcome and ended up liking Georgia a little more. She is a perfectly flawed woman who makes irritating and questionable choices/actions. In hindsight, it was fun to watch how her life and choices resulted in the climax.

After "100 years of Solitude" it would have been near to impossible for anybody (even Garcia Marquez himself) to produce something better in terms of magic realism. This is the case with "Love in the Time of Cholera". The book is another fine example of magic realism and keeps you engaged, but doesn't reach the greatness that "100 years" did.

This entry in the Spellman series was just great. I actually laughed out loud at least a dozen times. Laughed. Out loud. I'm not talking about smiling or chuckling here. What emerged from my mouth was straight-up guffawing up in this joint. Hilarious, mysterious, beautiful, and crazy, The Spellmans Strike Again is a pretty awesome book.

** spoiler alert ** I didn't enjoy this book as much as the second and first. I didn't like how the flock split up, but I guess it was something to learn from. There were many twists and turns, from Angel being the "traitor" and then her not, and Max's real mom, and fake mom. Although, I was really sad when Ari died, and loved the chemistry between Fang and Max, although when they kissed (somewhere around page 50) I felt that it was done because Fang had wanted to change Max's mind.

I loved this book. I thought from the title and even description that I would not enjoy it, but it was a fantastic read. I loved the references of music and pop culture to identify the time periods, and I loved that it was a realistic love story based on something science-fiction or fantasy notion of time travel. Great read. I admit it took me a chapter or two to get into it, but read it in one sitting once I was invested!
