Secara pribadi, saya lebih suka versi layar lebarnya.

Another crime novel masked by hype and translation from another language! Okay, okay, it wasn't that bad. The characters were interesting; I particularly loved Salander and am happy to see she'll appear in the next book by Larsson, The Girl who Played with Fire. Love the setting, although maybe people from Sweden are used to reading books set there (and it was originally written in Swedish). I enjoyed the relationship between Blomkvist and Berger, while the Vanger family grew increasingly disturbing. One thing I am wondering about, and it is so minor but kept taking me out of the story, is if in the original version there were so many references to American pop culture. September 11th and even George Bush, I can see. But would a Swedish investigative journalist curl up at night with a Sue Grafton novel? It was hard to believe. I really feel like there is more to the characters of both Salander and Blomkvist, and I hope the next two books reveal more. And huge thanks to Larsson for waiting to die until after he had finished the trilogy!

Very meandering but very insightful and about a woman who reaches a certain age and wonders what life is all about, after it's all said and done.

I had a thought in my mind when I finished this book and that thought was "BAH!" That's what I get for deciding to read a book that was made into a Lifetime movie. I just don't get what the author wanted to accomplish. I don't feel like Carrie made any great progression in this book, not enough of one for me to feel like reading that whole story was worth it. And in the end, the one thing I felt she really realized got left by the wayside. Bah.

Brilliant book. I have this book a number of times over the years and each time I read I learn something knew. This is a must read for all Australian teenage girls.

Interesting read, but I do feel like it could have been so much more. It ended too quickly!

One of the marks of a great book, in my opinion, is if the story compels one to read it more than once. Ethan Frome is such a book. Its main character is a flawed, but likable man whose lot in life is to take care of his ailing wife, a woman for which he has lost all love, if he ever had any. He develops feelings for a younger woman and risks everything to follow her. Edith Wharton is a master with irony and the twist that this book offers rivals the twists of a M. Night Shaymalan film. Worth reading twice.
Don't know nothing about this author so I bought this ebook like a closed box. Only thing who appeal to me was the plot, about a guy abandoned to the altar by his bride, who goes to the honey moon alone and meets another guy... Zach is an american guy alone in Australia: his fiancee left him to the altar cause, three weeks before found him jerking off looking to the gardener. But Zach is not gay... isn't he? And so, why he is looking so intently to the bartender? Mitch is an aussie gay guy... and happy to not hide it. He has a past of hiding in the closet and doesn't want to return to a similar situation. He is very happy to help Zach to understand his true nature. But after two wonderful weeks, what will happen? Zach will choose to go out of the closet? Out for Christmas? Zach and Mitch are very similar: not so young and not so naivee. They have had their experiences before, more or less good experiences. They are a balanced couple. The sex between the two is simple, basilar... a boy thing: beers, play and sex. But not like the Sean Michael's Jarheads: here we have a little bitterness, a sadness. And maybe the book would be better with one or two chapter more: I feel like it ended too soon. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000R93DJ4/?...

Well, first off I have to say that I took notes to really review this book but I think I accidentally threw them away! Oopsy. So, I put this book aside hoping to find my notes, but nope. They are really gone. There is so much tragedy surrounding Anastasia and her family. There are so many books written about them and I always appreciate people trying to give Anastasia a happy ending where there probably was not such a thing. This wasn't my favorite book, I admit. I think it was well written and the storyline moved along well. I just didn't feel a lot of motivation to finish it. It took me awhile. I guess I just didn't like how Anastasia always met the guard in secret to have sex. I'm all for the secret love and some romance, but I guess it was just the sex part that bothered me. Personal preference.
